bayberry in small residential yard?

Has anyone used bayberry in a small residential yard? I haven't noticed it being used like that anywhere. The nursery's description of it says that it suckers and spreads, which makes me think it's a bad choice, but I love its foliage and I need something about its height/width at the corner of my house...it will finish off a new foundation planting of 1 big-leaf and 2 small-leaf rhoodendrons, and maybe room for one more deciduous plant.

Any advice (or alternative suggestions) would be appreciated!
