About seven years ago I planted purple loosestrife as a divider plant in my raised veggie garden. I was proud of how well they grew and how pretty they were all season long. This year I made the decesion to start going "native". When I learned that my purple darlings were invasive I figured that thye were safe inside the confines of the raised bed. My husband suggested that to be safe I uproot them and put them in large pots..we are both used to plant like bamboo that spread through underground growth. When I went to the internet to see if the potting was best done in the fall or the spring I learned that my purple plants spread through airborne seed. Well, yesterday I uprooted and destroyed them. I'll miss them, but hey there are plenty of pretty purple native plants.
