What was the one thing you wished you had done?

Regardless, you should get a portable propane heater and plan to run it during heavy snow fall. Also a broom with an extension handle duct taped onto it. Don't plan to travel in the middle of a snowstorm. My biggest problem has always been the pressure that sliding snow puts on the plastic at the sides. If you feel you want extra perlins your cheapest bet would be to buy the 1.66" galvanized, swagged poles at Lowes and purchase cross-connectors from your nearest greenhouse supply center. The 10' poles will give you better weight distribution strength than the hammered end 4' connecting perlin pipes that come fron many greenhouse suppliers. I install extra perlins so I can position them for my tomato rows (drop string line from perlin to support plants)....See MoreHad to stake my bush beans....have I done something wrong?
Comments (2)Krista, I doubt you did anything wrong and think it likely that it is just the wind causing the issues. The wind here just isn't kind to anything these days....(sigh).....or most days. I usually don't stake bush beans, though at some times in the past I did so to keep them up off the ground. My ultimate solution was to plant more of them and plant them more closely together so they all hold each other up. That's one way to deal with it. They'll still produce fine even if lying flat on the ground, but when they fall over and lie on the ground, pests can climb onto the plants more easily. Bean plants that are lying on the ground also are more prone to foliar diseases. You can help prevent that by mulching the ground around them so that when it rains, the raindrops don't splash disease microorganisms up from the soil onto the plants. Now, as time goes on if you get all leaf and no flowers or beans that could be a sign of too much nitrogen in the soil, but if that is an issue, only time will tell. Sometimes the plants just make such good growth after rainfall or irrigation that they get topheavy and fall over. As the season goes on and the main stems get stronger, they usually won't fall over as much. I try to plant the bush beans in an area where they get some wind protection, but depending on how open your garden is to wind, that's not always a possibility if you're on flat, exposed land with nothing around to serve as a wind break. Comments (81)Every life stage has a look that is authentic for each person. It is just silly for a 60yr old grandma to want perky boobs like her teenage grand daughter. Some people really resist progressing to the next stage of life but the body does anyway. I just wish we gain the wisdom to accept our aging bodies. That being said, sometimes people look older or disproportionate in some way that is not suitable to their life. I had a young niece who was slim and athletic but had 38G breasts. Her life had major impact with dealing with those breasts... Or beasts as she would call them. Boy could not see past her boobs neither some of her girls. She could not shop and wear normal clothes. She had to use dressing pads under her breasts to avoid rashes. Breast reduction was medically necessary for her. Another friend decided to do a tummy tuck. She had an emergency c- section with her first child and the cut muscles never recovered. She found it hard to find professional clothes that worked especially as she had a narrower waist and skinny butt. Tummy tuck really changed her life....See MorePlease show me the tile work you had done for you Walk-In Showers!
