i had some 12 years ago ... and they started 'popping up' everywhere.. so i killed them and a decade later.. they are still popping up.. and really pissing me off ... just sprayed down a dozen yesterday ... i hate them.. and i suspect.. you will also.. in the future... never assume that all things that 'pop up' ... are good ... just because they are free ... ken

Thanks flora_uk and thedecoyguy, it is Geranium robertianum; the subspecies listed as native to MI by USDA is Geranium robertianum ssp. robertianum, Robert geranium. Oddly it is listed as Threatened and Endangered by 3 states and at the same time as a Class B noxious weed by another state, just goes to show that one mans wild flower is another's weed.
