odd. flowers looks just like a species of Eupatorium but i have never heard of a Eupatorium vine.

I think it might be Polygonum aubertii.

I believe it's in the milkweed family, so pods should develop on your vine.

With opposite leaves, it cannot be Polygonum aubertii.

The closest I could come is Cynanchum laeve but I'm not completely convinced. Matelea are also vines in Asclepiadaceae.

Thanks to everyone who responded so far. I uploaded a few more photos of the leaves and stems to help with the ID. You may have to refresh your screen to see them.

All the species you have mentioned so far do not seem to be this vine. I've Googled: vines, flowering vines, wild vines and native Texas vines and am not able to find anything resembling this plant.

I believe carol23 has correctly identified the mystery vine as Mikania scandens (Climbing Hempweed). Thanks for taking the time to investigate this with your friend Carol.

Now my dilemma: Because it is listed as an invasive species in some states, do I destroy it before it goes to seed or let it thrive since it smells great and feeds so many different pollinator insects? I'm an organic vegetable gardener and try to attract as many pollinators to my garden as I can. But I also want to be responsible with what is growing.

It is a native species with benefits to wildlife and it is only listed as invasive in Hawaii!

IMHO it is generally safe to ignore listings of native species as nuisance or invasive, especially if you are within their native range. Most of these lists are concerned with agricultural weeds, which I consider to be a different sort of problem than a plant that is truly invasive in natural habitats
