Need help id'ing a vine

Hi everyone. I have this vine growing in my backyard & have been encouraging it b/c the butterflies seem to love it. After messing with it, I've got some breakout on my wrists, so I'm worried it might be poisonous but hoping its just regular irratation from dragging these across my skin. I'm zone 7.

Please share any ideas you might have about this vine.

You have Moonseed or Menispermum canadense.

I suppose that the shape of moonseed leaves may vary by region, but these leaves don't bear a great resemblance to the leaves of the Menispermum around here in upstate NY.

Could you mention what type of flowers & fruit (shape, color, etc) this vine produces? The shape of a moonseed's seed will be pretty much diagnostic - being like a crescent moon.

It possible that you have one of the bindweeds, (Convolvulus sp.). Rapid growth and arrow-shaped leaves are indicators of these weeds... Sorry, I don't know much about evergreen vines for your area/climate. Mike

Using your genus tip I think it might be Hypericum punctatum (Spotted St. John's-wort). Also looked at H. mutilum and H. boreale but the leaves seemed too small.

Euthamia gymnospermoides is shown native in MI by USDA and several other web sources but none of them detail to county level. As you stated, Euthamia graminifolia is recorded in Ottawa county and almost every other county as per https://www.michiganflora.net/species.aspx?id=328. michiganflora.net doesn't have any records for Euthamia gymnospermoides. Euthamia graminifolia and E. caroliniana are the only 2 of the genus shown in Ottawa county at michiganflora.net. Of course this is not to say that it is impossible for Euthamia gymnospermoides to exist here, it just means there have been no official sighting recorded. I guess having a flower head would have made all of this easier. Thank you for you dedication to accuracy and for pursuing this matter further, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you both for your help. I barely recall it having flowers &/or fruit, so I'll have to wait until it blooms out so I can compare them.

I have been searching, and found a heartleaf peppervine which I thought it could be it. I'll post a link about that in case you are interested.

I'm going to look at again tomorrow and maybe take some more pics. I really appreciate your input.

The peppervine seems to have serrated leaf margins, while the margins of your leaves seem more or less smooth, so I don't think that's it.

Does your vine have any thorns associated with it? You mentioned that the butterflies like it - what part specifically attracts them - the leaves or the flowers?
