wild ginger getting purple spots in san francisco

Hi, I have just started native gardening; i live in the bay area of california and have dense shade. I purchased 3 wild ginger (asarum caudatum) from the SF Arboretum last week and now one of the plants has black/purple spots (looks like someone spilled ink on the plant) that becomes holes. Does anyone know what this is? If so, does anyone know what the correct procedure is for dealing with it? Or, is this totally normal and I should not worry (somehow I doubt this). thank you, norajo

I really love this website. I tried to find the answer by reviewing previous posts and although I did not find the answer to my question I learned a whole lot of other stuff! Thanks, : )
