Hi I have a type that is a true blue and grows and flowers much like a beaded Iris Flowers come from a branched stem that grows up to six feet.They also remain open all day and night. It is a "SWAMP type but feel that it's not a Louisianna as the standards stick up much like a bearded. It does require standing water year around so feel sure it's not a beaded/japanese or siberian. If you have a marsh or water garden they are good except VERY invasive lol and they only flower in the spring . gary

Marianne, thanks for your reply. But I'm a bit confused. Remember that I am new to all this stuff. How do you know that my iris is not the wild one that you are looking for? It was growing "in the wild" and I'm sure had been there for many years. I'm not meaning to argue with you, but I'm trying to understand. Also found another iris in mix. Of the 200 or so that i rescued, only about 5 were this type. Would I be correct to assume that the seeds that I got from these irises may be hybrids of this one and the other one? Can you give me advice on getting the seeds to sprout. I read that it can take 2 to 3 years.

I do have to say it would be very unusual for a tree peony to have blue areas on the stems like that. I would guess the original color was probably in the pink range. Like Maifleur said there are already some tree peonies that are rather close to the blue/purple range when they first open then turn more red as they age. snasxs, Lavender Lady and Blue Lagoon were peonies. As I recall they both turned out to be pink Chinese cultivars that could be purchased in bulk from Chinese supplier for about $0.50 each and someone put the photoshopped pictures on them with a price of several dollars. GA tends to darken over the season ... MY GUESS .... TCer is making GAs ... and a certain per cent come out BA ... a reversion .. and they grow them on.. and sell them wholesale ... but just a guess ... you should probably remove the GA from the blues.. or it might disappear during dormancy ... ken
