Look for shrubs too. The stems on Cornus alba 'Sibirica' & Salix alba vitellina 'Britzensis' are getting very red. So are berries on Viburnum. My dwarf conifers are coming into view now after I have cleaned up some of the perennials.

Not too much here since the frost :(. I have old-fashioned mums (don't have the name handy, but they are large daisy-like flowers) and they are blooming their heads off. Roses are still blooming, and I've got a rouge monarda here and there with a few petals left. Asters -- they're still going. I have a phlox with some petals still hanging on. Butterfly bush is still putting out a few bloom spikes. Some black-eyed susans. The pinapple sage is hanging on but just barely. The iceplants are still putting out some blooms.

Oh, and scabiosa. Blooming like it never got cold!!

I'm just waiting on my reblooming irises. No flower spikes yet but they tend to give out their fall flower way late in the year.

I see blooming veronicas (speedwell) everywhere but not mine :(. I guess it's because I forgot to deadhead!

The maple was a gorgeous electric yellow but after the heavy wind yesterday, it's all on the ground!

it is 11-9 today and I haven't been out there in daylight for a few days but this is what i saw with at least one bloom on the weekend.
I think starting these from seed has pushed back their bloom time on many of these- seed grown indicated---

I think every blossom is frozen now. The temperature dropped to the teens two nights in a row. I need to dig up my Dahlias PDQ and bury any potted plants I have.

It's gorgeous out there, but I'm stuck at work and can't get home until after dark. :-(

Nothing is blooming any longer. The first part of November is still nice. But within a few weeks, it all curls up and dies.

The Heath 'Erica' is covered with buds and ready to bloom. This is my first season with it in the garden. I didn't believe that it really would bloom in the winter, but I'm a believer now!

It is so cold I was having trouble pushing plant tags in the frozen ground... and I noticed my brunifolia draba had a new bloom! On Nov 26th!
It's a little confused- normally it starts blooming in March.

My Snowdrop is blooming! Saw a couple fall crocus last week too.

Okay, for entertainment purposes, I pulled my roses into the garage over a week ago becuase of freezing temps. Two of them (Tuscan Sun and Country Dancer) are STILL BLOOMING! LOL

Silly things!

A lot of plants are still hanging on to their leaves because of the sudden arrival of freezing temp. It looks kinda weird to see your roses and such full of dry green leaves in the snow. An unexpected sight for December.
