Yeah, but it isn't available. I grew it from seed a couple of years ago. It hasn't even set it's buds yet. It blooms in October for me which is fine because we rarely get frosts before then. I guess if I could propagate these guys I could get rich (ha!). Speciosum blooms into September for me, which isn't bad at all!

The only practical advice I could offer is to plant more of the speciosum in more shady location.
Here are 'Rubrums' blooming in part sun, but 4-5' apart from them I have a clump of speciosum 'Album' in more shadier spot and despite being planted at the same time they would need about one more week for flowers to open.

What kind of lily seeds - and where did you get them. (Do you think the NALS seed sale would have them next year?) I've been trying my hand at seeds. So far I have seedlings of Leucanthum, Lankongense, Taliense, and Candidum growing. Hopefully they make it through the winter!

I was hoping my orientals would bloom in August and Speciosum would bloom in September. Instead my Orientals were done by the end of July and Speciosum started blooming August 1. I can't make sense of these zones - I'm zone 7 but my speciosum are a month ahead of yours in zone 8. We have had several weeks of 90+ days - maybe zones mostly refer to the coldness of the winter rather than heat of summer. Though our winters are relatively short - we do have a few 0-10 degree days in February.

I do have them in two beds and the shadier bed is, like you say, about a week behind the other. How shady can you go and still have them grow well ? I have a heavily treed lot with a lot of deciduous filtered shade.

But here in Maryland we will be hot as hades into September and warm through much (if not all) of October. Since my speciosum started blooming the 1st of August that means, even with strategic planting, I'll have a lot of warm weather without lilies. :(

BTW - nice pic of your very pretty lilies (maybe I'll figure out how to post pictures one day!)
