...It depends on your point of view......
We are washing down stream! If I didn't know better I would be sure my hosta would rot! I was away from home Friday and Saturday and came home to an additional 4 inches of rain!
Your pictures are lovely and idyllic...but my reality is the wind is making them all lean to the North, they are covered with "stuff" washed out of the trees....like oak blossoms and maple seeds....and it hasn't been dry enough for all that tsuff to blow off.
My consolation in my hosta babes are loving wallowing in the mud!

You'll appreciate those Bacon/tomato sandwiches when you get them. We put Swiss or pepperjack cheese on ours. The Black Brandywines and Black Krims have made the best breakfast sandwichs so far.

Hi All, My box came! I got a wonderful box from Maryanne : ) She wrapped up everything in pretty garden motif paper. So it was like Christmas. Much of the box is very bird related which is great because they are some of my favorite things too. The box contained: not one but 2!! tube feeders, one is specifically for finches and one is for other small birds A window bird feeder A hummingbird feeder-you can never have too many feeders, IMHO! hummingbird food A whimsical bird designed wind chime A garden tool caddy for putting around a bucket-this is good for me because I tend to lose things while gardening 2 pkgs. of annual cut flower seeds, the pkgs. are cool looking. They are advertisements for the Philadelphia museum of Art show "Renoir Landscapes"-You didn't even know Renoir was my favorite artist! I did get to see his "Luncheon of the Boating Party" painting in person and it was amazing. I digress, back to the box, lol. 2 cookbooks! One is 'Preserves and Canning'-how great is that! One is 'The Saint Louis Cookbook'- another perfect one for my regional cookbook collection Now this is hillarious. In the box there was a refrigerator magnet, which is nice in itself, because I decorate my fridge with them, but what does it say?.... "Beware of Attack Gardener"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! The picture of various grasses in a garden setting is wonderful. And yes, Plantmaven has done a beautiful landscaping job and most amazing of all has done it quickly! The before and after pictures are very helpful. And yes again, before I got online I used to clip pictures out of gardening magazines. Now I go to garden galeries. There was a poll on the Cottage Garden discussions page and I was surprised to read that a large percentage of the people reading the main page didn't even realize there was a Cottage Garden Gallery. I am so glad you all enjoyed the swap. I too can not wait to see these seeds bloom. That is a great quote, Brenda. I know I'll be planting these seeds and prayin' they bloom for me. Lol--(my first year at "real" WS). I must say that it would have been better for me to play around with my seeds on New Years Eve also. Then maybe I would have spent New Years day with my head in a bag of potting soil rather than in the toilet!!!! LOL--just joking but I did have to recover from the festivities for days!!!!!! I'll be thinking of some new swap ideas. Thanks again to all!!!! Dawn

Raindrops on hostas are a lot better than raindrops on roses, IMHO. Here in southern Indiana we have nothing but 100 degree sweltering sun beating down on the hostas. I noticed today the wax is wearing off Blue Mammoth, and one leaf on Lakeside Looking Glass was completely fried where it stuck out past the other leaves into the direct sun. Even my clematis is suffering and the hydrangea is all droopy. I whipped out the hose and started watering, stopping to squirt myself occasionally. I'm sure I looked a sight, out in the sun with big sunglasses and saggy-wet house dress and lime green Crocs.

No rain in the forecast, just floods. Hardly seems fair.

Last of the snow has not left here yet. It will be weeks and weeks before I see a hosta leaf unfurling. Except in the greenhouse. But the sun is shining today, for the first time in weeks, the robins are here, and spring is on it's own lovely, slow timetable.
