I third the motion. What's your opinion Brock? Perhaps the discrepancy in numbers is that the same cultivar was featured in more than one garden?

I didn't know they had unnamed seedlings as well at convention gardens. Is that so? Saw some very pretty ones at your site. Would these be seedlings that will be introduced?

To me, seeing the seedlings is the best feature of the garden tours. It is exciting to see what's waiting in the wings to be introduced. Also, guesting seedlings becomes a sounding board with positive or negative feedback for the hybridizer so he knows if the public wants the numbered seedling or not. Seedlings are available for an AIS garden award called an H.C. (High Commendation) voted by AIS judges, which is an encouragement to introduce the seedling. If an AIS convention consisted entirely of varieties I've already seen, I doubt that I would go.

I think it's worth the money.

The pictures are all nice clear shots.

My own personal prefference: I always try to get shot's that are head on from a certain angle. Most of them are like this, but not all of these are that type of picture. It certainly doesn't mean the pics are bad.

And if you want me to be really picky, I think a very small number of them have had the colors adjusted. Again, that doesn't mean it's a bad picture either, and it's only a small few that I thought I saw it on.

Regarding no-name seedlings there are 80+ but I didn't actually count them all.

Also as an added bonus (imo) several are taken by the actual garden owners. For some reason that appeals to me. To know that the people that grew them were taking some of the pictures.

Do I think it could be improved? Yes, but what can't? :)

I say if you want to see lots of new ones without someone else's personal taste dictating which are shown it's a must.

I know I've put up a good sized clump of pictures, but I didn't come anywhere close to posting (or even photographing for that matter) all of the guest iris.

The only problem I can say I have is that the "powerpoint viewer" doesn't seem to want to work, but I think just about all computers these days have a button you can click to view images as a slideshow. The entire problem may just be due to my own ignorance, but I wanted to be sure to mention that before you buy it.

I hope this helps. I really can't judge it fairly for evryone's taste though. :)

Linda, I hope your photos do appear. Also that would explain the differences mentioned by eroctuse. Different folks with different cameras! I feel much more informed.
