Hello, gailmazz. Are you saying that new blooms are coming out blue/pink or are you referring to the normal color change that hydrangea blooms go through as they mature? New blooms should be white or off white, with some pink/blue tint near the center; after some time, the sepals turn pink/blue depending on soil acidity levels. New blooms this year or next will start white again.

Check the pH of the soil its in. Dig about 4-6 inches below the soil line and see what the pH is with a pH test kit. If its below 6, you have acidic soil and the blooms will be bluish. Anything above6 the blooms will be pink due to the alkalinity of the soil. To make the blooms pinkish again, add lime to your soil and it will take a few years of lime added every so many months to increase the pH of the soil. I would suggest adding lime in the spring and in the fall. Check the pH over the summer to see what it is in the interim between adding the lime.

If the plant is producing blossoms that start out blue or a maroonish-pink, then it may be mislabeled. 'Blushing Bride' produces white flowers but these may take on a bluish or rosy pink tone only as they age. White flowered hydrangeas are not influenced by soil pH - white will remain white - although the coloring on mature, aged blossoms often takes on bluish or pink tones that can be influenced by soil pH, at least with H. macrophylla selections. Otherwise, most other species of white flowering hydrangeas will produce blossoms that may start out with a greenish tint, open to a pristine white or cream, then fade to rose or buff.
