Thanks, Cathy, for your interest, but I'm afraid you're probably right about the practicality challenge, lol. Oh well. If no one in my area from this forum can come get it, I'll find someone who doesn't pay much attention to rose culture who will take it off my hands. It is, after all, pretty low-maintenance. But I figured someone already into roses might be more excited by it, and might better appreciate how unusual a variety it is. So hey! folks, the rose is still here. I'll give it up to a month here if needed on the forum, then I've got to get rid of it some other way. : ( ...because my three new Roses Unlimited roses are coming in March! : )

I lived in New Orleans (yes, Orleans Parish) for ten years. I grew HTs there, but seldom saw a bloom because mine were next to the street (the only place I had enough sun) and the blooms were stolen before I could begin to enjoy them. After five years I gave up on HTs and put in roses that the thieves didn't recognize as roses. And The Fairy was never stolen (I had eight of them and they were seldom out of bloom). A single flowered FL did loose an entire bloom filled cane one time, but other wise four of them were undamaged. If you put HTs and Fl-looking HTs in a public space, the roses will be stolen. Trust me on this. The bushes may be yanked out of the ground as well (this happened to a friend). A few thieves of mine were considerate enough to cut the stems but many were broken off and the bushes badly damaged. Whatever choices you make, don't plant red roses. They go faster than the other colors. And plan to prune so that you can see the mulch. In NOLA public parks, a lot of needles accumulate there and you don't want to find them accidentally. Sorry, but this is based on my experience in a not-so-bad part of the parish.

Bummer! I am visiting New Orleans from MArch 4-8 - just missed it. Can anyone recommend good public gardens and commercial nurseries to visit? I grew up in NO, so I know how to get around. I miss Zone 9, so help appreciated!
