Bitterwort, I work for a greenhouse dealer that sells BC Greenhouse models, and I can assure you that this is a top of the line greenhouse. In my years in the business, we have carried a multitude of different greenhouse brands and BC Greenhouses is without a doubt, a top-level company in terms of both quality and customer service. We have customers calling after 15 years saying that everything is as good as new except for the occasional broken pane of glass from nearby lawnmowers. We put one up for display last week and it took two of us about 6 hours, although one of our builders can go set up an 8x8 and be done within 4 hours. The design of the frame is perfect and well thought out so everything goes together snug enough so no outside air gets in, but not so snug that it's difficult trying to get the parts to go together. The Sun Garden model is a customer favorite, although I don't like it much simply because it's an extremely difficult greenhouse to crate with the curved side wall/roof bars. It does seem more sturdy than the straight eave counterparts though. I'd rather not say which company it is that I work for because I know this site isn't for advertising, but you should know that these greenhouses are the best you can get and I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed. Did you every find one. I am looking for one also? I saw the Thinking-outside smart greenhouse at Sams years ago but my house burned down I had to move. Now that I can buy one I can't find one. I would build one if I had pictures. I love the design. Any help?

One thing a GH will allow you to do is alter temperatures, humidity, and light exposure. The link I have added is just a general example of an evaporative cooler. Basically, water is misted through your wall. As far as what to grow, that's not a hard question. What produce do you eat the most of...start with that. What produce is least available locally...grow that. Can you grow anything that can be stored for later use (potatoes, carrots, onions, shallots, etc...) grow that. Of course many of these are not necessarily GH candidates, but hopefully you get the idea. Then there's the germination side of things. You will be able to get heirloom seeds started earlier and in better conditions with a GH. At any rate, think first of your own consumption, then think about things you'd like to show off to friends (e.g. your very own Orchid), and if so inclined, something you could sell at a local market (I have Shiitake and Oyster mushrooms on logs, but they wouldn't do well in your outdoor environment, but could do very well in the controlled GH environment.) There are likely cheaper options for initial price. But over long periods the cheap option will likely fail when needed most. And cost per hour could and likely would be higher over long run.
