Cross Country Nursery in Stockton, NJ
Comments (4)I was just there this weekend. My second year buying plants, and, like last year, I got tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and basils....just more of 'em this time. :) I wouldn't hesitate to drive 45 minutes to a place like this. I'm sure you know that you can also do mail order....me? I really enjoy browsing in nurseries and gardens. Of course, it's a far easier decision for me than for you, as I'm only about 15 minutes from them If you just want to order plants and don't mind the additional amount charged to have them pick & pack them for you, then I think you can mail order with total confidence. OTOH, I believe neither the basils nor the cilantros (and they have several varieties) are available via mail order. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to mail order -- but I also wouldn't think twice about driving the 45 minutes and wandering the greenhouses and picking out my own stuff. It's a lot of fun, you get to pick the particular plant you want, and you get a kind of hits-you-between-the-eyes sense of just how many choices you actually have. If you want just a few things, I'd say do it via mail. If you want to back up the truck and use a forklift to get all your stuff into it, then it's probably both cheaper and more efficient to stop by and pick them up. :) And BTW, despite coming home more than enough plants, I'm going back for more! I've decided I "need" some hot peppers and a lot more tomatoes. :)))...See MoreCross Country Greenhouse

Comments (79)Cross Country RR - I heard from Gena & wanted to let you all know that she is OK! I was getting pretty worried since she hadn't posted for so long, so I emailed her. Here is the gist of her response - & hopefully we'll hear from her 'in person' soon! [Cindy, Thanks for asking about me. But no worries. I have dial up internet and our phone lines have been out for several days, due to bad storms and then someone stole the phone lines for the copper to sell. Today is my first day back on here since they went out. I'm so sorry I missed the reveal for the quilts. But I loved my quilt and I wanted to say that you done an excellent job on the final round. That must have really took some time. I appreciate all your hard work on my quilt. I loved my quilt but unfortunately I can't post a picture (dial-up sooooooo slow). I'm gonna try to get on the GW and look at all the quilts this weekend (hopefully I'll have some free time) I still can't post on there so if you don't mind pass it on that I loved my quilt and each round was really great and I plan on emailing each person and thanking them myself. -Gena ] Sev'l months ago tinyteena emailed me when I'd been MIA for awhile. It's comforting to know how much the GW members care for one another - & look out for each other! What a wonderful group of people you are!! Hugs to each & every one!! ~Cindy...See MoreRefinish ash veneer & move cross country or replace?
Comments (0)We have ash veneer furniture from 1980 that I still love but the tops are porous and water stained, the shelves are scratched, and the color is uneven depending on light exposure. Refinishing and moving will be expensive. Buying new will be expensive because I don’t have to buy top of the line, but neither do I want something that will start to fall apart in 10 years. It’s what you see plus 2 bookshelves also 33 inches wide, 8 pieces plus bed. For those who know furniture, what do you think? Sand the tops ourselves and ship? What product would you use? With veneer, is it worthwhile to have the furniture professionally refinished? Donate to charity and start fresh? All opinions are welcome....See Morescryn
