Moving a Hydrangea

sugarhill

I am in Georgia - near Atlanta. I need to move a large Sister Theresa hydrangea. I won't move it until it is dormant in the fall. Is that the right time to do it? Also, I will need to prune it way back, but if I prune it in the fall I will cut off next year's blooms - right? So does it make sense to prune it back now, then move it in October? Would like to hear from the hydrangea experts. Thanks.
