Replanting raised bed that had winter kale riddled with bugs?

It was a warm winter here in the Boston area, and my kale and spinach lasted through the whole season, in a cold frame. Unfortunately it was riddled with some kind of bugs so I'm feeding it all to the chickens (they love it!). When I've finished pulling it all up to feed them, I'd like to replant with some other kind of vegs. But is there something I should do to the soil to make sure the bugs have been killed off? Or should I just let it lie fallow for this season to be certain? Any guidance would be much appreciated.
