I couldn't help myself!!! New FE Summer Lace for 2010!!!

I bought the new Forever and Ever Summer Lace Hydrangea. This is the first Lacecap by FE. It was loaded with buds and was the only hydrangea they had at Lowes! They must have had 30 or 40 of them! I have had great luck with the FE series so I said what the heck...LOL!!! I will post pictures once it starts to bloom.

Hi HnO - Now this Lacey FE lady may be invited to my piece of soil ... I do love the looser lacier blossoms!

Will check our Lowes here ( got my org. FEs fr them in '06) ... the truck from NC gets to you sooner, I guess! I stopped at HD yest only tons of colorful annuals, so far!

I also have the same problem with FE Series "Double Pink" I didnt bring it up because I didnt want to confuse anyone. I bought the Double pink with a few blooms on it and didnt have an excuse why it wasnt blooming. I went to FE website and noticed the Double Pink is no longer offered and neither is Red Sensation. Their Red Hydrangea is simply called "Red" now. Seems both Red Sensation & Double Pink have been discontinued. I feel like a test dummy...lol...leaves a bad taste in my mouth to ever buy a FE Hydrangea again. I dont want to spend years again waiting for a hydrangea to bloom, just to find out it was a dud. They have months left at best in my yard if they dont produce here soon and my money is on they wont. I have 5 Hydrangeas in pots I winterize already and dont want more in pots. I bought them to be planted in my yard...lol... Thank you for bringing it to my attention that it was a new cultivar and prompted me to check their website. I would never buy a FE Hydrangea unless it was in bloom to prove what it is. Along with checking on the web that others in colder climates have had success with that particular one. I have multiple years success with FE Series: FE Original, Blue Heaven, Peppermint & Together. Summer lace I bought last year and seems to have proven to be worthy also. Rebloomed last year and has put buds on new growth this year also. I see FE has many new exciting Hydrangeas I didnt know they offered now, but I wont be their test dummy again. It's a shame they apparently rushed hydrangeas to market that werent proven and I wont take that chance again.

Morning all!! Michelle, that sounds like a fabulous box Tina, you too...OOOHHH!! Cream and Yellow. Sue, would you have a pic of that? Shirley, Wow! I thought I was behind...but 350!! OMGoodness! And I second that! I am ready for fall. It has been incredibly humid almost the whole summer. We have been getting rain, thank goodness, but the humidity just sucks it right back up. It's going to be about 100 here today, and in the high 90's till Friday. My plants and I say its time for fall. :) On a fun note...my daughter gets to meet her new teacher today. It's the first grade lunch social at school. She's so excited! Hello to all! My box is almost ready. this is a fun project. I don't think I could send or receive any plants due to cold here, but maybe trade some in spring! I am trying to overwinter some geraniums in my indoor greenhouse ( in hubby's garage) I seem to be having fairly good luck. We too have 3 dogs, they are always in the greenhouse with me and the garden also. They eat as many veges as my husband and I, they ALWAYS get the first asparagus because they walk down the row and nip it off. Off for now, keep your chin up it is almost spring!!!!! D

Wow, it's funny how people have such different ideas of what is worth seeing. I've been to Niagra five times, with and without kids. I could stare at those Falls endlessly. Every time I go I do every possible "tour" of the Falls. The Cave of the Winds is not to be missed. Sometimes I get off the MOM and get right back on the next trip, and the next. I'm mesmerized by those Falls and the closer I get to them the better. I'm not fond of the cable car over the whirlpool, but I do it if the others in my group want to do it. I heard the cave that goes behind the Falls is closed now and if so I'll be heartbroken as that is a fantastic experience. I am told that Goat Island is the best of all the attractions in NF, but somehow I have never managed to get over there. There is a safari/amusement park between NF and Toronto...my whole family loves that place. The only thing I've really enjoyed seeing in TO is the "castle" that is there. I spent a week at 1,000 islands once. It was a long week, lol. The highlight of that trip was also a castle built on a privately owned island. NF does have a horrible area full of mini golf, funhouses, ripleys, etc.

I don,t understand Lowes thinking we don,t have any FF at our Lowes yet but they must have 30 blue ES. Last year they did the same thing they would bring in all of one type hydrangea instead of a assortment. Heck I would be good for at least a half dozen plants if they would get a good assortment going. They must have had 30 more of the pink double FF last year.

Hi HnO - I ran to Lowes to check out F&E Summer Lace that you had to give in to! LOL ... no such luck Â:( ... all the Hs they had were the reg Pink F&E as well as the Blue.

Like any addict ... since I was there & have several on wish list + must list, I came home with 2 musts & 1 whim (none Hs tho)!!! This AM I got 2 in & I'm simply happy - the holes were pre-dug last Fall, so t'was a cinch!!! Â;)

Lowes will take the whim back, if I can't fit her in amongst the musts ... nice isn't it?! Â;)

Ditas, thats awesome you got two you have to post photos once they start to bloom. Was you loaded with buds like mine?

Ostrich I will try to sanp a pic soon. Not much yet to look at though. Only a one gallon.

Yes they are really zone 5 hardy. I have many Forever and Ever hydrangeas and I can confirm that they bloom on new wood. The Summer Lace is new this year, but I would imagine it will do as well as the rest of the hydrangeas in their series! The Blue Heaven of theirs gets really big mophead blooms and the Together gets quite large blooms also, and has a very unique double/triple flower. The Together is my favorite, plus it is very unique in it's size also, only growing 2' x 2'.
