$7000 does seem high unless he is quoting higher end units. The indoor coil needs to be replaced to match the outdoor unit. Plus it is what usually is leaking anyway. Since the indoor coil is built into most blower units, chances are it would be easier just to replace all. Today's higher efficiency coils tend not to fit in older air handlers.

As a buyer little changes like you describe would not make any difference to me. For me a second showing means that I am interested in the house and I am going to look for flaws that I missed and consider how the house fits my lifestyle. Things I would do on a second visit - * lift up area rugs to look for hidden damage * open cupboard to look for sags or cracks *look at the outside for the damage and condition of the paint * Look at the condition of the fence * Maybe open the electrical panel - if it is an old house * Look in closets to carefully consider storage * If the neighbors are out I would talk to them about the neighborhood Minor issues would not discourage me, but if I opened a closet and everything fell out or if I saw serious damage it would make me rethink it.

I nipped back onto gardenweb to find the name of this series to give to the mother of a friend who was a terrific gardener in her day and had one of the first gardening or kitchen TV shows I think? She didn't have a TV... ;) Sadly, when I click on all these links ... gone. It says they're removed for copyright infringement by BBC. So I'm wondering: why do they not release the videos for sale and not permit them to be sold? I guess I probably know the reason, someone from the series, perhaps Ruth Mott or her family? ...likely has some copyright issues and BBC cannot release them. I know that happened with Alistair Cooke's stuff. But I can't find the series anywhere! The wartime kitchen series is on utube and the victorian kitchen and garden is, but not the victorian kitchen! I'm wondering whether anyone has any information or links to this series that still works. It really was such a wonderful series. The reason I even thought of it was because of that section about the mushrooms that were grown. A friend visited with a housegift of a block of fungus that you water and out of it grows mushrooms -- it's really, really wild. So fast and weird and strange and beautiful and slimy they are! I was reminded of the series. Thanks any for whatever functional links anyone might have....

No, it won't work. That new one only turns, does not have a pull/push action, so the valve bodies in the wall are different. On the more positive side, you can find replacement internal parts for the current valve, clean the valve body and lube and install the new parts. It should work a lot easier afterwards.
