Questions about hosta weedlings/seedlings(?)

Apologies ahead of time for any incorrect terms, but I can't figure out how to look up this information. Can someone explain to me how those little baby hostas pop up each year? I thought you had to grow seedlings indoors over the winter.

Last year I found one that emerged green--for awhile I thought it was one of those plantain weeds--but eventually grew into what now looks like an Albomarginata. (I know many of you cull the babies, but I am new to hostas and gardening in general, so I'm just so thrilled to have things growing in my backyard.)

This year I found two growing by a plain green one. One has pointed leaves, the other rounded. Did these come from the same hosta? And did they grow from the mother plant's pips (?) or from seed?

Why do they look different? Will the round one eventually look like the other one?

(Am very confused!)
