Where can I find Eleanor's VF-11 in SoCal?
Comments (7)CG, I have seen it at several RiteAid in the Long Beach/OC area. RiteAid in Long Beach: the one by the traffic circle. In Garden Grove: the one on Valley View, next to the 99 cents store ( there are 2 RiteAid stores on Valley View in GG ). In Fountain Valley: on Brookhurst, near Talbert. These are all 50% off ( could be 75% off ) right now. I did not know how good it is, I did not buy any. Is it really good as advertised ?...See MoreEleanor's VF-11 and Birds....
Comments (11)Truthfully, spraying birds always enhances their plumage...with just cool water...but, as Eleanor tested the VF-11 on hundreds of birds..she said many of the birds were nearly bald...losing feathers...which is either due to a pest, a nutritional deficiency or being plucked by other more aggressive birds...and all the bald ones regrew their feathers...within a couple of weeks. I, in all honesty, believe that this happened because, when wet, birds will "preen" their feathers...and when preening their feathers, they get the ingredients of VF-11 in their system...and this helps to compensate for nutritional inadequacies. So, I don't think it'd help Denise's hair, unless she was to spray her hands with VF-11 and lick the moisture off...or, more easily, drink a mixture of water and VF-11...it surely wouldn't harm anyone...and quite likely would cause some improvements. Birds LOVE to be sprayed...they're very meticulous about their feathers...so, I sprayed mine today...they love being sprayed...then they spent 30 minutes preening their feathers...so, the VF-11 got into their system. None of my parrots are bald, so I don't expect to see any dramatic improvements...but, I do believe they'll perk up just because they love the attention they're receiving!! The birds that Eleanor tested were, obviously, deficient in certain nutrients...VF-11 wouldn't stop other birds from plucking them, nor would VF-11 rid the birds' feathers of pests, i.e., mites. Eleanor believes that indoor pets miss out on a lot of necessary nutrition due to being indoors....she stated the importance of animals and birds of being exposed to "dew". I always assumed that dew was just water...but, Eleanor believes it contains nutrients. So, I learned something new!! To make this more of a "hoya" subject...don't forget to spray your hoyas once you've finished spraying your birds!! LOL Fondly, Patrick...See MoreExperiments with VF-11,SuperThrive,Miracle Grow
Comments (12)Listen, guys, here is the deal. I am not in any way saying that VF-11 is no good. It is good, but is NOT A MIRACLE. It has all the right stuff. Just like many fertilizers. There is no such thing as "immediate" results. Another thing is, what makes a flowering plant bloom is plenty of real light, sunshine; fertilizer that is high in second and third number on a bottle (0.01-0.3-0.7 for example) high-phosphorus fertilizer. SuperThrive is a hormone that might help your plants grow a bit faster. It helped mine. Another thing with SuperThrive, it is not a MIRACALE. No "one drop per gallon" stuff! I use a teaspoon a gallon and that seems to work. Another thing, Hoyas come from all over the world. Some like it hot and sunny, and some like it shady. They are (most of them) considered succulents. If you are really into giving them what they want, check out where your particular Hoya came from originally (I do not mean nursery in Chicago). If it is originated in Thailand, you can check what climate it is there and try to simulate the climate yourself. But it is too much work. I grow my Hoyas under special florescent lights and they are doing fine. This is what I have learned from reading books, and talking to people: You want them to grow use hormone filled fertilizer. Fertilizers with high amount of nitrogen will produce rapid but week growth. You want them to bloom use High-Phosphorus one. Take your Hoyas outside in a nice, sunny day. Do not over-spray Hoyas-Wet leaves mean fungus. Again, none of this is a "rule of thumb", but this is what helped me to take care of my plants. Common sense, knowledge of your plant origins, and some knowledge of a plant structure and function (botany stuff) is what you need to make any plant happy1...See MoreI Wrote a Note to Eleanor
Comments (29)Hey Denise, Thanks for posting that. I had found an old post-it note near my fertilizers which said 1 oz. per qt., so that's what I used. Interestingly, I just measured it out, 2 TBSP = 1 oz. So what I did is 4 times as strong as what you suggested ... hum. Am happy to report that my ailing variegated Krinkle 8 is looking much perkier & rigidly upright since this one application last wknd; I may try doing your formula every other wk to see if I can save this plant for now ('til I get my E VF-11 next wk). My Haws. are all fine, tho' a couple of Truncatas are kinda slow right now; maybe I'll dilute mine a bit & give them a shot, too. Thx again & for suggesting it on the Haws!...See MoreUser
