My oh my, please pass the chalk

I must write on the blackboard 100 times: I will not buy more hostas. I will not buy more hostas.

And then I must be rapped on the knuckles for lying.

Haul so far this week (pending one more run tomorrow for Remember Me (replacing a lost one) and hopefully, Clovelly:

Ginsu Knife, Choo Choo Train, Emerald Eyes, Dream Queen, Spilt Milk (replacing a lost one), Spring Fling, Mississippi Delta, Paradigm, Independence (replacing a lost one) and one that's marked June, and was sitting with the Junes, and the leaves are June shaped, but it is all yellow. May? English Sunrise?

I'm generally reluctant to replace a lost hosta, but Spilt Milk was a gift from my kids, Independence goes with Revolution, and Remember Me is the keystone of my memory bed.

Will post pics after tomorrow's run.

If you go back to get 'Remember Me' today, you might as well pick up Clovelly and save yourself another trip on Sunday.

Hey, I'm right there with ya. I got Clovelly this year.

So is the problem you're having resolved related to the insane amount of rain we got last year? We have been dealing with water issues as well. In fact, the $6,000 waterproofing project really wasn't the way I wanted to spend my money, LOL. Our house is on a corner lot of a cul-de-sac and the terrain slopes down from the street all the way to the bottom of our street into the woods. Remember that day about a year ago when we got about 5 1/2 inches of rain in one day? That was the beginning of our water problems. For us, the ground underneath the slab portion of our house is so saturated that every time the rain is heavy enough and long enough, we had water breaching a wall in our basement/elevated crawl space on the other side of the slab. Sorry you are having to do all this work now. Your hostas will be OK in the pots and when you get to put them back and make that area beautiful again, it will be very rewarding.

This sounds like a question that only someone in a stupor could ask. What were you THINKING, Hooray? Opening a window when its zero degrees outside? That's tantamount to being locked up in the state mental hospital for insanity. (I am just kidding you...don't take me seriously. I sprained my ankle and am delirious on Lortabs at the moment after a very painful ordeal yesterday). I actually can't imagine it being that cold. I have a coat on when its 55F. I hope your plants bounce back, but what gives me even more hope is that places like the Home Depot where you live even carried Crotons and Adeniums. By the way, your login info says you are from 6B Massachusetts, your post says you are in Maine. Which is it?

Thanks Lisa!! First thing I did this morning when I got up was to go to the window to see if they were at the box and they were! They were there for about an hour and a half when I had to take dd to school. They weren't there when I got back but showed back up again around 9:30, now I haven't seen them since. They had both been going in the box, once I saw them both go in the box together too which I figured was a good sign. I am not freaking out yet that they went somewhere else, well yes I am but I am not admitting it. LOL! I recall last year when we got a pair of Blues in mid June that they took forever to get settled. Last year I saw them on a Monday and then the female was MIA for the next five days however the male stayed around singing his heart out. Then the female showed back up and two days later started building a nest. So I am hoping they have chosen this box and right now are just relaxing a bit until they are ready to get down to business again. DOnna

Pot lights, switches, pendants oh my! Please help me decide.

Thanks a2gemini for your help. I would like to find a pendant for over the sink, but maybe just that one for the peninsula area. As per the island, we are considering a Modere-aire hood which will have lights (halogen I think). The hood look we are considering is posted below. However, the colour will likely be white and trim will be brushed steel (not the copper in the picture). Given this hood is large, perhaps we should do two pendants over the island? What do you and others think about the switch for the lights in the dining room? In other words when we leave the kitchen and go to the dining room, do you think we could have a switch on the back of the peninsula? How far away should the pots lights be from the wall? The i-joist are quite wide open with no plumbing above so we should not be too limited. Thanks! BTW our ceilings are only 8 feet, so the not at all like the image posted!! Got Remember Me. Clovelly hasn't arrived yet and the last of Stitch in Time was being prepared for mailing.

I have Mississippi Delta and it's a real beauty, but be advised, it's a slug magnet. Take precautions for those slimy visitors.

Ay yi yi. Add Aureomarginata (replacement) and Ooh La La to the list.

I need to be stopped. After tomorrow's run for a bunch of Fragrant Blues on sale and some Sweet Autumn Clematis for my new arbor. And a couple of daylilies.
