Hey everyone,

I know its been awhile and I'm so glad to be back. My garden is completely overgrown after three months of neglect. And to top it off while I had most things labeled before I left apparently some little critters enjoyed pulling out the tags....now i have no idea what anything is. So I will be posting pictures soon :-) I do know I have a six foot tall candlebush plant....I would like to know if I should cut this plant back or will it die back on its own in the winter? Its so nice to be back in my yrad though....this was the first time I could hang out outside in three months. It was so peaceful....of course looking around i also saw how much work I have to do. At least I have a month off to do it.

Welcome home! As the saying goes, "There's no place like home." I love visiting my family in NJ, but then can't wait to get back HOME. My bed, my pillow, my shower and of course my garden. ;o)

Welcome back. Cut the Candlebush to any size you desire. It will grow back. I just cut mine in half because it was leaning over a pathway and I've already got new growth.

These popular home trends are predicted to go out of style in 2020 From the article linked above - "The gray on gray on gray trend has got to go," one designer pleads, while many others chimed in that the all-gray or all-white look is too sterile and cold for an everyday living. I worry about the situation for those living and gardening in Europe, with winter coming on and an iffy fuel situation for heating. Fingers crossed for a mild winter this year! bart, I'm so glad to see you posting as I remember that you had some health challenges when I was last here. I wish you all the best in every way. I know your rose garden is very challenging, and I hope you remember to take care of yourself first and foremost. I've learned that gardens can be very ephemeral, but one can always try again when things don't work out. Sheila, I'm so sorry that your irrigation system was giving you fits. They can be a challenge but are so necessary in the west. I'm glad that your roses are doing well in spite of this and everything else. The old roses are tough, in addition to being so beautiful

"I know this is an old post, but I didn't see anyone mentioning that when a cutting of a variegated sans is rooted, the plant that subsequently grows is the species plant. That's why those sans look weird. To get the same plant as the original, a portion of the rhizome needs to be included with the leaf." I'm having trouble squaring this statement with the fact that both leaf and root are parts of the same clone and genetically identical. How can they produce genetically different plants? I cut mine last year and made a bottle brush out of it.It grew back this spring and I think it is cursing the blue bottles on it's nubby branches!
Remeber.Youll get your yard back one weed at a time!

Its very good to be back home. I loved Tally....so much less crowded than Miami....and you could buy so much property for cheap up there......the dog is great (thanks for asking) I missed her so much...she is getting spoiled rotten....has become very insistent and makes us put her up on bed every night...I still have to take pics of the yard.....it is so overgrown ....I kind of like it ...once i get rid of the weeds :-) I hope to see you guys soon....I so missed gardening....and my GW friends :-)Ricky the Candle bush has done so well while we were gone....Its such a nice plant....everyone who comes in my yard asks about it.
