It was a biennial or maybe a triennial when it finally flowered. It was beautiful and well worth the wait. It also seeded nicely. 2011 drought wiped them out. I did enjoy them very much. They were nicely drought tolerant just not tolerant of living in Hell. I do not see in in the nurseries like I used to or I would have re bought it or saved some seed as insurance.

I grew them for years. I started with one plant, too. Beautiful and boy did they reseed! They are biennial, at least the kind I grew. Pretty, pale lilac flowers - as Glenda stated, papery bracts, their large, crinkly leaves covered in white fuzzy "hairs". Very pretty. Pollinators love them! I grew mine with Catmint in the center of my herb garden, planted around a 20 foot tepee which I built of tree limbs for growing Birdhouse Gourds. I used it for a couple of years. (My grandchildren had a blast playing in and around the tepee). I grew tall Mullein towards the back. They are also biennial and reseed like crazy. Clary Sage is lovely in the Cottage Garden setting though. Try as you might, some of the seeds will likely escape your harvesting, but you can transplant the little seedlings easily next spring. ~Annie

They are both beautiful colors. It may depend on the light you get in that room. If it is a sunny room, the sage might look better. If it is dark, then the softened green would probably be fine. You can get $5 small size sample containers of paint at SW. Before painting the entire room, get samples of each color and test them on the walls and see what you think. I painted my master bath (which is dark) and my master BR which is very sunny the same shade of blue. In the bath it looks nice, but in the BR, during the brightest part of the day, it looks very washed out-almost white. I am going to go one shade darker next time I paint the BR. The green will look lovely with the cherry and walnut. Good luck.

The house was build in 1924. Kitchen and bathroom were probably last updated (other than paint) in the 50ties. We remodeled in 2002. We didn't know that the original iron pipes in the bathroom had corroded and water was slowly leaking into the cement underlay of the bathroom floor. One day the weight became to great and the bathroom floor ended up in the kitchen. We had planned a remodel a couple years down the road. I had no time to really plan. Everything had to be picked out in a hurry, but I think for not having time to really think about layout and design it turned out pretty good. We had some snags along the way. Somebody had done a very amateur job on the electrical updating. Our electrician just shook his had. Sometime they had added a rickety mudroom addition and when we opened everything up we found out that the whole weight of the addition rested on the back door frame. It had cracked a footing. We had to put a header through the kitchen and pour a new footing. Amazing how the house straightened out. After the header and footing I all of the sudden noticed slightly bigger gaps between the boards of the hardwood floor in the living room. We found the original hardwood flooring in the kitchen under several layers of linoleum and other unidentified flooring. Last year we remodeled the "finished" side of the basement.Our son resides there now. Next will be the front porch and then we "only" have the roof, windows and siding left.
