I am interested in locating a group of plant swappers in the Lafayette region. I recently moved to this area from Northtwestern Indiana. I just found out about the gardenweb forum. I've been a flower gardener for years. I would like to thin out several of my perrenials so that I may add different varieties. My plants are very healthy. I know of at least one other gardener in my area who might be interested in participating in such an exchange club. She, too, is new to the Lafayette area. She is also a "Master Gardener". I participate in a "gardener's road trip" up into Michigan yearly. It is set for the 15th of this month-May. There are at least thirty in our group. We drive empty pick-ups and vans up to Michigan and bring them back home full of store purchases. Afterwards we have a cook-out. I hope to find people who are interested in swapping plants within my area and possibly taking a yearly road trip. I know of a "plant swap day" in Flora, but it is much too far of a drive. Thanks!

Thank you all for a wonderful plant-filled afternoon! Gardeners are such wonderful folks to spend time with. :) I heard a rumor that there will be a Fall Swap down in Columbus...hope to hear more about that soon! For the folks who escaped before the very end of the swap...you missed out on the plant/clown car routine as I tried to fit everything in my hatchback. The DH of Lora_IN stood shaking his head as he saw the pile of plants I had to fit in the car...so, of course, he felt compelled to help. By the end of it, we had about 6 people trying to fit everything in my little hatchback. There was applause as we managed to slam the doors shut with everything inside. :) I wish I'd taken before & after pictures. Thank you all so much for the wonderful plants.

I strongly agree that many of the customer service email addresses get no responses. But when you phone, it's a completely different story. I ran into this with Blanco when inquiring abut a sink, and HomeGuard when inquiring about a door. No response to email. But when I talked to them on the phone, they were as helpful as could be. HomeGuard in particular was unbelievably nice on the phone (located in Indiana, BTW, but it's a door company). Some companies are more old-fashioned and like the phone service better than email.

Not mowing isn't a problem, the grass is adjusting and growing in. If you don't mow this year yet, there's no issue. It's really late to seed KBG as your normal frost date is coming up fast. You can try, but I don't expect that sprout percentages will be that great and winter survivability even worse. What you can do is wait for winter, just before a good snowfall, and seed then. Dormant seeding is a distant second best to fall seeding, but the seed will sprout the first instant it can in spring and has the best chance of making it through the summer of any of the not-optimal seedings.
