New construction windows in central Indiana

I need to replace my windows as they have rot problems. Would like to know the best windows to use. I have e-mailed Okna ,Sun-rise and softlite To find dealers and get no reply. I am looking at either Andersen or Marvin integrity, As they seam to be the best that I can find in my area. Need your help. Thanks

Most manufacturers have a "dealer locator" on their web sites. You type in your zip code and the closest dealers will come up. Try that as a start and do some research on this site as to Okna, Sunrise and the others and keep us apprised to your progress as we will try to make this as easy as possible for you. Good luck!

We have sliding windows, Milgard's lowest level vinyl ones. I hate them (sliders in general I think- ugliest style out there IMO) but there is a really easy fix for limiting the amount they open. Hardware stores sell these little screw/clamp things that you just place at your desired window-stopping point and screw on. It is possible that an older child could (7-8 and up) could figure out how to unscrew them. Otherwise, the screw thing works just fine. We have them in the kids bedrooms (courtesy of an anxiety ridden grandmother).

My recommendations: Vinyl-Sunrise, Okna, Softlite/Gorell, Affinity (Energex). Composites-Okna, Interstate. Fiberglass-Inline, Marvin. Wood-Marvin, Kolbe-Kolbe Please don't take this list as the only good windows out there. There are some regional manufacturers that make some very good windows, but I'm just not familiar enough with them to make a recommendation. Most manufacturers of vinyl windows will offer at least a tan/beige exterior and a white interior. Softlite offers a few basic extruded colors and an expanded selection of foil laminate exteriors and then adds in a fairly large selection of painted exteriors and if that doesn't satisfy you, they will also color match to any Sherwin-Williams paint colors. Sunrise offers about 4 exterior colors and a few interiors colors.Okna also offers a pretty good selection of extruded colors and also an expanded selection of painted exteriors. Inline offers about 5 standard factory colors and will also do any custom colors. Marvin offers a decent selection of cladded exteriors.

I would try calling the manufacturers as well. Many times they are busy with the work of producing the windows and some of the other details fall off.

Where in Indiana are you located and I can perhaps pass along some information.

I strongly agree that many of the customer service email addresses get no responses. But when you phone, it's a completely different story. I ran into this with Blanco when inquiring abut a sink, and HomeGuard when inquiring about a door. No response to email. But when I talked to them on the phone, they were as helpful as could be. HomeGuard in particular was unbelievably nice on the phone (located in Indiana, BTW, but it's a door company). Some companies are more old-fashioned and like the phone service better than email.
