Shanna, that looks like a great arrangement. This way, you can sit w/hubby while he watches TV, and you can gaze at your lovely plants! Sounds like the way to go!

Shanna, I wish I had your windows. The big eastern window in the family room is covered with a large 52" TV. All of the other windows have that film that cuts down the sun, therefore the heat. All my hoya are outside just about all year. If it gets really cold, I cover them with old quilted mattress covers.
When winter comes, you could always send your 'biggie' hoya down here for vacation. I will take very good care of them, even give them 'haircuts'. LOL
Seriously, you have a great collection of plants. Thanks for sharing with us.

Shanna, looks really nice the way you have everything all set up. The plants look very happy with all that natural light. Only Hoya Addicts would use a Coat Hanger as a Plant hanger, LOL...good thinking! Appreciate the pics!

Hee hee, I think you can add another curtain rod and hang lots more. Just keep it in mind when your addiction starts getting the best of you (lol).

I really like the hat and coat rack turned plant stand, I would add a shelf on the ring for plants to sit, I have to find one of those, garage sales...yes!!!

What you need to do is get all those useless (ha ha) knick knacks off the shelving unit to the left and move THAT in front of the window - imagine the space possibilities! And get that valance off of that window too, decor is not important, you need more LIGHT!!! How would your husband feel about you busting out the window and making it 3 times bigger?

Of course, you could put the kids pictures on top of the TV...with a few more plants...

just kidding Shanna, it looks very nice. Is your house always that neat?

Hey I envy you being able to put your plants outside. The weather here in MO is so unpredictable. This year has been so rainy, windy awful. Hubby and I bought our house last year so this is our first year for a garden and over half of our corn is layed over because of the storms (and the corn is 5 1/2 to 6' tall. I just can't bring myself to put my babies (hoyas) outside.

I have worked deligently this spring/summer to expand my collection. When the hubby made me that table in the eastern window, I didn't even have any plants on the second shelf and NOW LOOK!!! It's packed.

Do post pictures before/after. Oh how exciting!! When I did my move, I had been considering it but got the urge and just went with it.

I was a little nervous what the hubby might say b/c of this... Hubby and I have been married 2 years in May. The first year we lived in a rental house and we had our living room arranged like so. Well one day I switched the couch and love seat (only switched the two pieces of furniture) and when he got home he started rambling about long wall/short wall and the long couch on the short wall, blah, blah, blah and then he switched them back (by himself of course) saying it looked awful. So you tell me, when did men start caring how furniture is arranged? I wanted to tell him to hush, he is a bricklayer and know's nothing about interior decorating. LOL! but I didn't. So that is why I was a little concerned about moving the furniture this time but to my dismay he liked it a lot.

Yes, definately loads of more space. If you look closly on the left side of the pic, little round table with black cloth over it, it's empty, I know! You have me thinking now, how can I do that hanging rod thing, I know where the studs are now from the hangers that he put up on the side of that big window.

You have me laughing!! In my rental house I did use those for my plants (I have 3 of those). I agree take those darn curtain things off, I don't like the color anyway besides I don't really had a color theme in my living room. Hubby is going to build me on a sunroom, floor to celing windows on all three walls (north, east and south) that connects to the living room where the east window/wall is now. We are going to try to do it in about 4 years or so.

I could hang the pictures on the wall somewhere or put them in another room. Yes, my house usually looks like that. My house being messy drive me NUTS! Hubby can't sit anything anywhere b/c I'm always picking up and putting it back where it goes, he! he! It has been more hard recently keeping it picked up and clean because I have been cleaning houses on the side to support my hoya addiction. Speaking of.. I should have 4 plants on their way from trades and maybe 9 more cuttings to root, Horray!!! The table with the black cloth will not be empty for long.

You are TOO funny. And I can't believe you trained your hubby so well! When he's done building your sunroom, can I borrow him for a year or so (just until my sunroom is done..ha)!

All I have to say is that when you have that sunroom, you will be HIGHLY in need of hoya addiction recovery! I bet your hubby is waiting 4 years to build it cause he's hoping you'll be over your "hoya hobby" by then! Haha...FAT CHANCE!

Gabi, sure you can borrow him, just play clueless girl and act like you need him and I think he will cooperate. I do have to ask several times if not more to get him to do things but eventually I think he gets tired of hearing me (b***h). Yes I will need some recovery. I already asked him about putting stud walls as close together as possible b/c I wanted hooks from the walls to hang the hanging plants and also I wanted to put a shelf around the room close to the window to set hoyas on, still alot to decide but wanted to let him know ahead of time what I wanted to do for sure. Yes, he might be waiting for that day to come but I bet deep down he realizes it's a lost cause. If the truth is known I bet he's waiting so we can pay off his 2000 dodge diesel and 2008 fishing boat he bought in January and March, darn men and spending money!!! And all I want to do is buy plants, there's no comparison.

Hi Shanna, Nice arrangement!
Just don't forget you have a heat vent under the window, your plants won't like that when it's time to turn it on.

I found a way to hang plants and not have to make any holes, just get some of those long S hooks at a garden center, they come in a lot of sizes or Wal Mart has one size and hang then on the curtain rod from the back side.
That's how I hung mine.

Thanks for the "S" hook/curtain rod idea. I don't turn on the electric baseboard heat just for that reason. We also have propane, that's what we used that last year. At the beginning of this year we bought a wood pellet stove because it is much cheaper than propane.
