I prefer the 1st option except I would angle the chairs towards the sofa. Swivel chairs would have made it easier to see the TV or people sitting on sofa. Teal & navy is a great combination but not sure from the pictures what is teal. My DR curtains are navy, teal, gray & white bargello pattern & I love it. Do you have a rug? Curtians? What is the wall color?

No rug yet, will be purchasing once I decide on furniture. Thinking it's going to be neutral, light color rug. Walls are Benjamin Moore Intense White. The end table that I was looking at is Teal. Oh, and my floors are hardwood, natural red/white oak blend, 2-1/4" width. And right now I have basic white sheers on black rods for curtains. Will look at curtains options for that once I've decided on rug :)

Here's a little mockup, I put in kind of what I'm thinking for a rug, and what I have for lamps. Not sure I love my existing lamps, but it's what I have for now. So the end tables I've been looking at are dark teal. Not sure they work? I have nothing in there for a coffee table.

I'd go with a longer coffee table, so more folks can use it -- rectange or oval rather than round.

As for the end tables, they're so dark that I'm not sure they're really bringing an additional color - they're almost black. Also, here in the real world, do you not need any storage in the living room? I use a closed table that hides my computer bits and bobs, and the magazine rack on the side becomes the spot for my laptop to sleep at night. Where will you put a magazine or remote in this space?

Anyway, try to find a candidate for coffee table before you get too far with the end tables, because it will be more prominent, and your feeling for the right end tables might change with the character of that table.

And here are the end tables: Eastham End Table The thing about these end tables is that the stock images show two different shades of teal, so I don't know what color the actual tables are.

Considering there's no storage on this coffee table or the end tables, I'd probably need to consider a different option for one or the other. I think I'm drawn to open, airy pieces, as you can see.

You may be able to do this because of furniture being back-ordered: cancel the chairs and get swivels which will work for conversation and t v watching. This, but purchase swivel chairs:

I'm a fan of #2. I always like the look of two club chairs side by side like that. I think having them together as one unit balances out the heft of a sofa and the huge TV. I agree that it makes sense to focus on the coffee table first.

Are there any textures in your room? If everything is just flat wood, paint, and upholstery, I'd suggest a coffeetable that has a bit or texture or reflectivity to it.

What kind of books are you looking to store in this room? I got a three tired brass and glass coffee table from West Elm recently and it is a fantastic place to display 12 huge art books. Better than a bookshelf. When people sit on the sofa, they actually gaze that the books, pull them out and read them. I like that.

Textures would come in with rug, curtains and pillows, I think. I kind of like layout 2 for the reasons you said Kendrah. As for books, I don’t have fancy pretty art books, just novels, gardening books and a couple home decor books.

Oh yes I see the warmer wood, and agree, thank you for that direction!

We might suggest looking at a round coffee table and a light rug that has some blue in it. Also we think the first layout would most likely work best. Here are some ideas from various designs of ours.

I've taken a lot of your comments into consideration, and I think this is where I ended up.... The chairs will face toward the coffee table. I already purchased the one end table without drawer (in front of the chair) to see if I like the color, and I do, it's dark teal. Oh, and for a plant I have a large ponytail palm just like I put in as well. I hope I'm going the right direction?
