Barb...both happy and sad....Happy he is moving forward with his life. Knowing he will go far as long as he stays focused on his studies, and learns to quit being so wasteful. Sad because he is moving on and we will be seeing very little of him in the next 4 years or so. We havent made any new life adventures yet. House needs some TLC. I suppose first we will get used to having a home with just us and the critters and go from there. Chell I used to be a dog and cat groomer. I loved it too. But my employer was a deedeedee. Never had the money to pay me each week and always "owed" me. And she never gave me my tips either.Then at the end of the year she reported more earnings for me than what I had really made.Fortunitly I kept records and proved my case and won, so make sure you don't let the same happen to you. I have kept my clippers, blades and accessories and still will do a neighbors dog or two once in awhile to keep my skills up.....but don't miss the hair stuck in places I did'nt know existed....lol. Josephine: Thanks for the nice words (everyone else, too). I dug some earth and mulch away from the High Society in case it was too deep. Don't see much improvement. I put the new border edging up because the "landscape workers" had repeatedly rammed their mowers into the former polyresin faux rock border and taken chunks out of it, which I repaired year after year. Got tired of it and invested in the Landecor cast concrete faux rocks, which I then raised to the necessary height to retain the mulch by putting a layer of complementing bricks under the rocks. It's not the trimming of the grass near the garden that damaged a half-dozen of my valuable plants, it was the indiscriminate and careless spraying of WEEDKILLER, fer cryin' out loud, right next to a garden. Takes a special kind of cretin to do that, and that third-rate landscape company has them in no short supply. Haha, can't wait to see what happens when mower meets CONCRETE. I also ordered a new female half of the stolen female half of the quick connect for my hose. They forgot to steal the male half. Like I said, you suburban folks have your voles and deer, and I have 2 legged critters working on the destruction of my plants.

Sunshine: I am growing a watermelon now and I have a few fruits ripening on the vine. I’m hoping they manage to get there before the temperatures drop. I have tried in the past but vine borers have always gotten to them and killed the plant. This is the first year my melons have made it through unscathed and I think it’s because I planted them a little too late. It’s amazing how quickly the fruit grows. I took this first picture on Friday and the second this morning. All that growth in just one weekend!
