Unbelievable.

While Hubby and I have been laboring away to make our yard our personal paradise we always wondered what the neighboe was doing with tires piled up,lawn never mowed, Starnge people ,I told my family I thought it was a meth lab and they said Nooooooo there would be explosions.

Well we woke up today to crime scene tape,frds etc crawling all over the street. They are STILL there in fact I just saw a medic show up.

How toxic is this stuff? I worry about ground and water contamination because they had one spot where a shovel stayed(over a year)I guess if I contact the epa they mey help any ideas???

Thank God,that you all are OK!
If I were you I would certainly contact EPA,for information.
My best wishes to you,keep us inform,I like to know EPA's response.

If they are still there I would walk right over and ask I think you have the right to know. It could be a grow house as well I heard they use pure oxygen that could explain the suits. Watch the news tonight, good luck.

It's called "abuse of a vunlerable individual" and it's illegal. Talk to your fiance's case worker NOW and they can probably refer you to someone who can defend this. If Van manages to get you into court before you get legal help, explain to the judge, WITH copies of the papers for discharge and everything, that Van drove his mentally ill, still recovering schizophrenic son from the hospital right to the bank to get him to sign over the property. Look up your state's attorney General's office and see about "abuse of vulnerable persons" ... elderl;y, dementia, mentally or physically vulnerable ... it's ALL illegal.

This one came in a group from my boss's home. I had no idea what they were..how they would grow. A few years later I noticed it hiding among a mess of green hosta and was SHOCKED at the size of the leaves. It really has never gotten any fuller. When I was doing my side yard there was a discussion on Gardenweb about these and how one was plenty..but I decided two would due. I would guess it has been out my kitchen window for about seven years now. About five years ago I decided to redo the bed in the back yard next to our new raised patio. I got a chunk from the one above as it seems to grow quickest. The dryer exhaust doesn't seem to bother them. Finally I was looking at a boarder out in the back yard along the tree line and decided it should be the land of the giants so cut another piece from the kitchen window specimen. This is only three years in this spot, it seems to be coming along.

I couldn't stand the Yellow cap Downy. I'm intrigued to see what they have done to it. I'm actually using Downy sweet dreams right now. It is warm and has a strong scent in the bottle, but leaves NO scent after drying. I'm kind of impressed. I only buy Downy because of frequent sales and coupons which generally makes it quite cheap. Too bad they discontinued the Tide version because it might have paired well.

Somehow I got on the Norwegian mailing list and I keep getting tempted; I think it was $99 one way, $200 RT to several European cities. My DH was mentioning recently that he and I don't vacation alone much, so I thought ....hmm, maybe he and I should go away for Columbus Day weekend. Then I looked at the weather in the European cities that were $99 ... it was going to be 53 degrees in Edinburgh. Plus, I have been there and I like it but don't need to go back. So then I kept looking. A few hours later, I had an itinerary. But it was to Dubrovnik (which would have better weather, I have never seen, and I'd actually like to go to). I also found some great Air Bnb spots. Only problem I had to be gone 4 nights not 3, and total airfare for two of us was ... $1800. In coach on a cheapo airline, with an 11 hr layover in Oslo on the way home. I woke up the next morning and nixed the whole thing ... I had succumbed to total mission drift. ONE THING worth noting. As a rule, I do not fly international in coach. It is just too miserable to fly overnight in a seat vs a flat bed. HOWEVER i don't think flying home in coach from Europe is bad at all, because it is during the day and just a matter of keeping oneself busy. But the pricing always forces you to fly first or business back if you fly that way out. HOWEVER, on Norwegian, they had daytime flights to London from NYC-area in coach that are very cheap. That I would totally consider. There are not many daytime flights avail. on carriers.

I am so glad that you are okay, living next to such a people can put your life and your family in jeopardy.

It is good news that were caught without any tragedy.

Just like everybody said, make sure you ask questions about how safe it is.

Maybe somebody croked in there from the fumes and they are now fertilizer! :) - Halloween Humor....

Hope the guys in the picture were not undercover... Ooops, those pesky neighbors with cameras! :)

If they are wearing hazmat suits, I don't think you should walk over there. I would definitely call EPA and ask them to check it out. Be careful.

The suits are due to them going in a confined space with that stuff, and carrying it right under their nose. That shovel situation is different. I'd first call the county health department about it.

Based on my extensive knowledge gained from watching "Breaking Bad" I believe meth labs are extremely toxic. I am not sure how far the toxins travel though. I would ask one of the cops what happened.

tanya, glad they have put the jerks out of business next door.

The cops have probably been watching your place to see if you were growing a little "weed" in among all that neat stuff you grow and I'm not sure what they would make of those boxes in the garage full of wiggly things :>)

Thanks for all the responses guys . Ive been busy getting ready for my sons 30th birthday party on Saturday so I haven't been at the computer as much.
My husband is friend s with Jeff Luther(said cop) and he also called to warn an animal control officer friend that the pitbull is aggressive, bites etc as we and other neighbors had found out. When my husband would clean along the fenceline he would lunge and throw himself at the fence. Jim went over in the truck and wouldnt get out (for safety sake) but just LAID on the horn til somebody came out so he could tell them and they just said"well ,you have a fence don't you?"
He has also bit other neighbors but they always hid him til it cooled down.
The cops said they had been watching this place for a year which isn't comforting,,,,especially if you watched BREAKING BAD and saw how dangerous this stuff is. We were in danger for a year?????????? Gee thanks!
Cops said in the video training they received they just need to clean it up on the inside and all will be ok.
Vero hides alot of stuff, I love this town but they want you to think there is 0 crime which is not true. No it isnt like your big metropolis but stuff happens.
My son has been teaching me to shoot a 9 mil I won at a gun show and I pick up a new smaller one I can carry on Friday.
Not what I want but hey, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Im a pretty good shot by the way!LOL
I talked to my friend at the extension office and she gave us some numbers to call. we want soil and water tests done.
Oh and no one is there.They left windows open,and crap out in the open but no one has been back.

My DH was just telling me that he suspects the house will be torn down. That stuff gets in the sheet rock, insulation etc. He saw on tv that a family in CA bought a house that was a former meth lab. They painted and fixed it up. They all got sick and eventualy moved out. The house was torn down.
Tany glad you and Jim are OK. I believe we have a "drug" house in our neighborhood. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
