A Room Divided
I went to an elementary school that was built in the '70's during that whole "open school" idiotic era. What they did not take into account was how unbelievably noisy K-5 kids are! By the time we got to Junior High, there were temporary walls between all of the classrooms in that open school.
Sometimes the large airy loft and wide open interior spaces are your ideal space , but once you move in you realize you need a little spatial division to make it livable. You don't necessarily need walls to do this; there are plenty of other ways to divide and conquer without completely separating the spaces.
