Wow, Rita. Those zinnias just don't want to quit! Looking at them it would seem as though it's August. Mine were finally done in a few weeks ago with the frost but they didn't go away easily. I just love your ornamental grasses. I have some, too, but now they are flattened out by the weight of the snow. The snow is melting and in some spots I can actually see my plants, which look like a steamroller ran them over...LOL. That snow was SO heavy!

I am glad you still have some plants to enjoy this late.
What are we all going to post about in the winter? It is such a LONG wait for daylilies!

I just felt like taking some pictures today and really the choices at the begining of November are limited around here.

Considering there was ice on the zinnias a few days ago, they really are amazing. Never stop blooming and I don't do anything to them.

I HATE, HATE, HATE Winter. Nothing to take pictures of and I stay inside as much as possible. Long wait then till spring.

Rita, The zinnias look great...I can finally pull the old zinnias that I left for the migrating butterflies, (mostly dried up, but still blooming some) because that new bed of zinnias (also known as my iris bed I might add) is opening up like springtime. Silly things, but the butterflies like them and the lantana and the salvia, are still blooming too, so I guess it's okay.

Yeah, I agree, winter is depressing, but once I have the rest of these tulips planted, I am going to get the pansies and snapdragons and get them planted, and put the garden to bed for the winter.

You have a lot of color for it to be so late. Those zinnias are like the Energizer Bunny. I love all your daisy flowers. My cones and Black Eyed Susans quit months ago, but my Becky Shasta Daisies are still blooming a little. That ornamental grass is very showy. I do love the looks of it.

Still a lot going on in your garden, isn't it? I still have a few zinnias blooming, but they mostly look bad. I walked by my aconitum today & had to turn around, it was blooming. I planted this from seed 4 years ago & this is the first time it has bloomed. Love the bright color, but it is so late! We've had 2 hard frosts, the leaves on it are almost totally brown, but at the top is the most brilliant blue/purple blooms.

Rita;your zinnias are still soo very pretty. and love the Black eyed susans and the grasses. That last photos of that grass looks tropical, so pretty with the sun shining on it, makes it just glisten.The cone floers is pretty, too.and Love BE BOP rose.have you ever seen the rose BETTY BOOP blooming? I had one a few years ago, and one week it was in full bloom and so pretty and the following week it was dead for some reason/.its a single rose and its red & white.

It is brown, dry and cold here outside my window. All I have to do is click into the Daylily forum and it is summer!!! So beautiful Rita! For someone who has never traveled, it is like you are on another planet to me! Now all I can think about is spring!! Thank you for that! :)

Judy, I buy the glamini Glads from Van Bourgondien, which is a bulb company. I used to buy lots of lilies there too but found they have a really bad rep so don't buy much there. But it is the only place I have found that have the Glamini Glads. But never any problems with the glads so don't be afraid to buy.

Kay, the cleome is a newer type that does not have seeds like the old ones. Not as tall either and never stops blooming. This was the first year I had it but I do really love it.

Debra, those black eyed susans are ones that self sowed from other annual types I had in my garden last year. Then I bought those POW WOW WILD BERRY Coneflowers new this spring and have been totally, totally impressed with them. Unlike the other types of coneflowers I have that have a bloom season and then quit, these started blooming and then just never, ever stopped blooming. Fantastic. Honestly anyone that likes coneflowers should try this one.

Thanks Rita. When I looked them up they were sold out of most of them. Do they sell them in the spring and that might be why their sold out? I can't remember when I planted mine. I am hoping thats the case so I can get some of the individual colors and not the mixed bag they are offering. Judy

Yes, buy them in the spring. They will have them back in stock then they always do. I think the only things in stock this late are tulips and daffs.

It is always enjoyable to see what is blooming in someones garden this late in the season. No daylilies, but still some nice colors to look at.

I thought you might be gearing up for your annual leaf bag hunt in the neighborhood. I saw so many leaves being raked to the side of the road in the local towns and thought of you on your leaf hunt.;-).

I am actually one of the buyers disappointed with Van Bourgondien. Just my experience.

Nice colorful pictures. I think the pictures of the Myscanthus are really beautiful. I like the way they seem to be glowing. I hate winter too.

Yes, I actually am already collecting the fall leaves as I need to get going with the fall mulching of the daylily beds. And other places to mulch too.
