Yes. Some of mine are 30 days behind others. And this year, with a cooler Spring, many are "late".

Absolutely. My latest one is always "On Stage". She's a bit of a diva. But she's worth the wait!

Up until this year,On Stage was always my absolute latest to emerge,but now I have a new leader,as the slowest ever. It is Bright Lights,which is one of the Tokudamas. It is up now,but still hasn't unfurled a leaf. By contrast my Sagaes are completely leafed out. Phil

On Stage has always been my latest to come up, but this year Independence has yet to show a nose. I did dig down, and it is still there. Just late I guess. Francee is a late comer, too, it's just barely beats On Stage every year.

Paradigm was my last one. Everything else had unfurled before it had its first pip above the ground. It was so late I thought I had lost it.

No sign of Francee, Earth Angel, Green Gold, or Kross Regal. I can't find my two Christmas Trees but those were the only two that I didn't mark, so I'm afraid to poke around in the bed.

Elegans is only two eyes again this year, but I noticed some roots going sideways. Maybe I'll dig it up and see what's going on. Last August I was measuring it's leaf during a very windy day when a huge tree fell and crushed it. I barely got out of the way, luckily the snap of the tree was very loud. No more gardening for me on windy days.

I can't find either of my Gold Standards, Frances Williams, Earth Angel or Whirlwind. At least I now know that a noticeable differentiation in emergence time is the norm. Thanks.

Its going to be in the 70's every day this week after a lot of rain. I have a feeling I will see everything soon.

I was wrong. There is a big blue NOID down in the woods that is just barely poking up. It would be the last. I moved it from a spot by the house 2 years ago, don't have a clue what it is. Just big and blue, but not Blue Angel. Maybe Elegans.

Yup, on stage and several of the other montana species types are very late to emerge. Fatal attraction is just poking up and aurora borealis is a late riser too.

My Patriots are ALWAYS later than all the others

As I viewed my garden this morning I am finally able to find all of my plants. Many are tiny pips just poking through the mulch. In contrast is Sagae who is very early and nearly twice the size she achieved last year. I have grown Sagae for 3 years now and I can see why it is such a popular hosta:

patriot is last for me, followed by whirlwind, august moon, francee and striptease.

This year for me it's looking like 'Spartacus' is going to be the winner of the last hosta to rise (unless 'Tattoo' rises from the hosta grave). I see its little nub at the surface, but it doesn't seem interested in waking up yet. All others seem to be in different stages of growth, from fully leaved out to finally pushing their way out of the ground.

Thanks for posting this. I came on to see if some I planted in the fall last year might be late. But none of my missing ones are on that linked list.

I was in a rush to plant (bought like 30 gallon perennials at a going out of business sale) and I have only a vague notion of where I planted them. One is up, and is Queen Josephine. Which was planted about the last and was the smallest. But it is the 3 Halcyon I'm trying to find, and as well as the Blue Angel. I want to work in that bed, and I don't know where it is safe to step. Plus I have more stuff to plant.

I normally "map" everything, and have purchase notes written up on the computer. Not this time.

All of my other hostas are in some stage of leafing out, but on today's (5/6) garden walk, On Stage has FINALLY poked above the soil!

Here in zone 5a, as to expect no sign yet of On Stage and two Tokudamas.
