Who knows anything about Paulownia trees?

I brought back three seed pods from one my brother in law has in SW GA. His is a large straight trunked tree with fairly dense foliage. One web site mentioned that they are "messy" and they do seem to drop a lot of those seed pods a la our much despised ear tree here in Florida. Other than that all I really know is that 15 yrs or so ago they were being marketed as a fast growing furniture quality lumber tree that could make farmers a lot more money than growing pine trees. I don't see any groves of them around and I assume that the only people that made any money were those that were charging $1500 an acre to plant them. I don't want a grove of them, but I might consider trying to grow one, but first I want to make sure they are not in the same category with potato vine, kudzu, sandspurs, stinging nettles, and lantana. Anybody?
