End of the Growing Season! Now What?

User

Yesterday we were supposed to get our first frost and all the news reports said it was the "end of the growing season". I do not think I am ready to end anything in the garden. Just yesterday I recieved my last daylily order of the year. It was supposed to be three lovelies, however the grower was feeling very generous and I have to find a home for 7 different dayliles. Today I plant.

I was wondering if the plants would be better off in black pots that I could place in the sun and then sink into the veggie garden in a few weeks (hoping we get some more warm weather); or should I go right into the ground?

If I go straight to pots, would you use a commercial potting mix (little concerned because they usually come with fertilizer in them) or just use some composted soil?
