Someone Has Got to Know...I HOPE

As some of you know, I had a very bad winter 2006 and lost many daylilies over winter 2006, a couple deaths in the family, hard drive crash, followed by heavy, heavy spring flooding 2007. I STRUGGLED to get daylily orders out, along with refunds for lost plants over winter. While struggling with all that, had to get what did survive moved to a new area of my land that does not lay in a flood plain...sometimes you learn the hard way as I did. Never knew part of my land was in a flood plain because it had never flooded here in the 10 years lived here prior. Needless to say, the flooding washed away tags on some to which I'm hoping y'all can help me I.D.....Any guesses are much appreciated as I do have a list of all the names I can check with. Some of these are finally blooming first time for me after all the 2006-07 mess I had. Thanks for your help!!!!

Unknown Double

HUGE Yellow....heavy substance, must be about 7 inch bloom, but did not measure it....could be six, but it is really big...the scape stood rather tall as well as I barely had to bend over to hybridize it....did not set any pods this year.

UNKNOWN reminds me of Lavender blue baby or another chance today?

This was in a trade with ELLIE...Ultraviolet mood or Niece Beverly?

Your yellow sure looks like Bill Norris or Joy & Laughter.
The one from your Ellie trade is NOT Ultraviolet Mood - that one is purple with yellow throat.

I've found some examples on the internet that shows Forestlake Ragamuffin looking similar to your toothy seedling.

Brandy--(my sisters name is Brandy btw!) I haven't yet heard back from the previous owner but I checked my aol email and it shows she hasn't yet read the email. I very well may have an old email that she does't check anymore. I could go to her new ranch, its just a ways up from me towards the next town but I didn't want to just show up on her porch uninvited :) I'll be able to get a hold of her eventually, and will make sure I do so before my husband needs to start moving things for the renovation/remodel of our farmhouse. Jeri (from this board) has been in touch with me and she is wanting to come out sometime in the next few months to check some of the rose bushes we have here. I sent her a TON of pictures on email, poor thing! She's been very friendly and helpful. I haven't been able to answer this post because I've been camping at the beach with my kiddos and although I had access to internet I tried very hard to just sit back and enjoy the quiet time with my kids :) Yes, I'm familiar with the Mojave desert, we camp there all the time during the cooler months (desert camping is usually from about Oct-April for us!) We take the dirtbikes out to California City in the winter and we spend the summers at the lakes or the beach. I'll keep everyone updated as I find out information. Jeri gave me some possible names of the other roses we have, I have no idea if they are anything special (my gut says they aren't but I dont know a THING about roses LOL) but she says she saw enough that she still thinks its worth a trip out to our ranch to check them out. So I'll be in contact with her about that. Thanks for everyones interest! Sammy--I wll have to check out the Dainty Bess, the Natalie Bloxham, Arcola Gardens and Seil roses to see their resemblance to mine. I'm still not sure anyone (or even Jeri?) is convinced its a Kathleen but she sent me a picture of the Rancho Camulous Kathleen out here near where I live and it does look eerily similar. For my 2 cents here. Raspberries on our dry prairie acreage we grow Boyne and also a few Honeyqueen (yellow). I have 2 rows about 6' apart and have over the years gathered leaves in spring or fall from folks in the city and filled the pathway between. The last seveal years as it has rained some we have had very good crops. Strawberries do not do well here as we just do not have enough water to keep them. What I do have are a very old Junebearing called Protem which came from Beaverlodge. Blueberries are just in their 3rd year this spring and I just don't have the names handy but they are hybrids with the tall and short varieties. Saskatoons - well here we have a number and it really does not matter which they are as the birds get every ripe berry. I made the mistake of planting in a single long row so it is impossible to net them. Best berries by production seem to be Martin, but we also have Thiessen, Honeywood, and Pembina. Maybe this year I will try to net at least some! I am also getting into the Edible Blue Honeusuckle as a bit of a breeding/selecting program and have a number of seedlings, cuttings and plants. I think this is a good small yard fruit plant which could easily replace the blueberry for our dryland and high alkili or non acid soils. This is a plant that should be allowed to grow 4 - 6 shoots and then kept well pruned at the base. I also have Nanking Cherry which is probably the most under rated eating cherry.The big issue is that from seed they are quite variable and you need to select a couple of good ones for flavour and even ripeness and discard the rest. It makes great jelly and my wife even makes pies with the pits in. The only time you can spit at the table at our house! The plants need to be pruned well in the spring by my experience so you get rid of many of the shoots. I took mine down to 5 to 6 stems and had several which still produced a good 4 litre pail or more each. I see T & T advertises a large fruit type of this and there are blacks and whites available as well. They take very little space if cared for. One of the problems with us gardeners is that we forget what we have planted and even if we have a good variety it really does not help the novice grower. I would check with a local garden club or Horticultural Society to see what people are growing. Good luck! It will soon be time to plant. Here is a link that might be useful: My blog with links

It did not need to be probated persay,as everying he owned was held in jt ten with my DH and his sister. Sister got the house as she lived in it with her dad...old maid!! The bank accounts were in all 3 of their names so they were split between the two. She is just NUTS and have become very mean!!!She has always been very socially delayed...not retarded but just a home body....no friends and no dates. VERY SAD!

4th one down is the one that looks like Niece Beverly.

3rd one down looks closer to Lavender Blue Baby. Another Chance Today has too much yellow. Lavender Blue Baby is the closest I can find, right now.

But I think I better log out for the night.

Mareas, thanks for the two suggestions, I'll get to looking on those two tomorrow. I know it was a bonus plant tagged St. Croix which I'm sure it is not.

WOW....Thanks for all your help Marbree!!!! I've got Forestlake Raggamuffin and Niece Beverly so far....thanks for helping me get two off of my list of unknowns!

I agree that the toothy one looks like Forestlake Ragamuffin. Your purpe UF on top of the toothy look like Witch's Stick. It's good to see you posting again, Nancy!

I would take that lsit of names and go to Tinkers Database and look them up. Then match those photos with yours. For added safety you could also then google the names with "daylily" after them and search images to further check. The good part is you have a list of what could be out there.

Thanks Debra, that one resides in my bed of bonus plants. The deer trompled through there and hoofed up some tags. Got a fence around them now. I am slowly, but surely getting myself back into the daylilies, it sure helped having LOTS and LOTS of bloom this year not to mention my first seedling babies! I've got several pretties re-blooming now.

Bambi....I am doing that with Tinkers, I have so many tho and it takes FOREVER and a day with my dial up connection I just thought it would be quicker to see if any guesses match up with my list....LOL

Keep those suggestions coming y'all....I sure appreciate it!

Thanks marea, I'm pretty convinced it is Lavender Blue Baby. It is blooming right now in my garden. I've got both the dip and the tet versions so I am working on setting pods on it to see which pollen it likes best to determine its ploidy.

Thanks Dot, you know what I've been through, your emails sure brought me bits of laughter through some of my tougher times, not to mention all your GORGEOUS flower pixs! Thanks for your vote on Lav. Blue Baby. This one resides in my bonus bed and just started blooming a week ago. My tet and dip versions are well established and marked in the main bed so looks like I've got xtra now! Only time will tell to see whether tet or dip pods form in order to figure out the ploidy.

any other suggestions for the others are welcomed!

Sorry Nancy, the only ones I recognize are Neice Beverly and Forestlake Ragamuffin. the Uf's looks familiar but can't think what they may be. do yo have brooklyn Twist/ i'll have to look that one up...Ellie

Brooklyn Twist is on my list of flowers I do not have a pic of yet. Maybe one could be Brooklyn Twist? Others on my list are Tropical Depression, Velvet Web. I'm thinking one of the above could be one of these, just haven't gotten that far in my research with this dial-up connection. I may just have to start a bed of unknowns....LOL
