Comments (7)Update on pickles. Some turned out soft and about half were still firm before the processing. I decided to not process them because they will be put out for my daughter grad party on sat. I put them in the jars and refridgerated them. I think i had hollow cucumbers and didnt realize it. next time i will use pickling cucumbers and check them first. Comments (5)So how long before ya try 'em??? Huh? (my 2nd BIG batch went into the syrup last night). The whole cukes filled a gallon plus a quart jar. Sliced them up last night, got them all to fit in the gallon jar..........then realized there wouldn't be room for my spice ball and that there might not be enough syrup..........SO, dumped them in my big stock pot and poured on the syrup (double recipe). Today, I taste! Tomorrow, I taste, etc., etc. :+) First time I only made a half batch and by the time they got to the jars there wasn't even 2 pints. I really don't know what happened!!! Honest! Comments (10)Thanks Carol! LOL I was hoping for an actual measurement as I have tons of cukes that are larger than they should be. Our neighbor's son went a little overboard on planting and they aren't picking many so I went out and filled our lawnmower trailer. I'm making several batches of Red-Hot Pickles with the big yellowing ones and using some of the smaller ones to do the chunk pickles.
