There isn't much blooming here. Autumn Minaret is blooming,Stella de oro, a few reblooms on a pretty noid I've had for years, rebloom on Bangkok Belle, rebloom on Mini stella, and Small Gestures is sending up a scape. Almost forgot Condilla has rebloom too.

I'm trying to get more lates and very lates like Rita did last year. I've got a number of things coming in trades so hopefully next year this list will be longer.

Also have rudbeckia, coneflower, sedum, and 2 kinds of veronica blooming. My rugosa rose (variety ?) still has a few blooms too.
It's really down to slim pickings here.

RED VOLUNTEER has a scape that might make it if the weather doesn't get too cool.

bigjack- You need some of the extra late bloomers. I would be in a very major funk right now if it wasn't for those really late blooming daylilies that at least give me something to look at.

Then, I have purple coneflower, bellflower, black eye susans, blanket flower, mums, asters,fern leaf bleeding heart, a few roses on their third flush, trumpet vine,( I know it's invasive, but I keep it in check, I love it and it really brings in the humming birds) cosmos started from seed and just now starting to bloom. So overall still alot of flowers blooming but just not my beloved daylilies!!

Not much here. Buttered Popcorn is full of blooms on some rebloom scapes, & Bill Norris. Orange Velvet has a couple, Barbara Mitchell & Darla Anita are just sending up scapes, Chorus Line, Skipjack & Final Touch are finishing up. Jedi Flamingo Kid also is reblooming.

H. altissima, AUTUMN MINARET, and INDIGO MOON (on its third set of rebloom scapes) again, I will have to try and use it's pollen next year, I have not been able to set pods on it.

Just think of what our gardens would look like if we could pool all of these together?

Great information to have for my order next year. I'm saving this one!

If I had to choose just one of my list of original bloomers I would recommend Jim Murphy's VL bloomer LAST CHANCE FOR ROMANCE. Puts on a really nice show and really is a very late bloomer. You just can't go wrong with this one. My second recomendation would be both VT BUTTERSCOTCH HARVEST and VT TYPE ALPHA both from Olallie Daylily Gardens and both start blooming mid August here and still blooming away. If price is a consideration, both are reasonably priced and can be bought for much less than the Murphy intro.

There were a few last blooms today including Elegant Candy, Lullaby Baby, and Key to My Heart. The only thing left with multiple buds is Thorhalla, which was also blooming today.

Isn't it wonderful we are still able to see blooms. Great ideas I've gotten from the posts.

I think all the posts Edward did on his crosses with VICTORIAN LACE has got me thinking of getting a fan or two next year. But first, back to checking out lates.

We shall see what is blooming on October 1st ;-).

Julia, you should see the two huge pods on Victorian Lace. I can't wait to see what the next batch of seedlings has to offer. I have enjoyed Victorian Lace in every garden I have seen it, especially my own. You should definately pick it up. Here is a picture in case you forgot what it looks like.

Edward, LOL, I haven't forgotten..... I wonder if I matched VICTORIAN LACE with MOONLIGHT SAIL that Debra keeps posting what kind of kids it would have. Now I have to get both of them next spring...after the lates are ordered.;-).

Of the plants that are established, I have blooms on CIMARRON ROSE, VIOLET BECOMES YOU, and RENIE'S DELIGHT. Plants received this year that are blooming are PRICELESS, TEXAS CARNIVAL DANCE, and LYCEAN.

The blooms I have today are Cedar Waxwing, Winsome Lady, Party Pinafore (in a pot), and Classic Delight (1/2 open at Noon - not sure if it's really blooming today or opening up early for tomorrow).

This has been a bad year for my established daylilies. It was so cold and rainy this Spring and Summer that many didn't bloom at all, and many others were very small or barely opened up.

I have Egyptian Queen and Dixie Land Band has just sent up a second rebloom scape.

psst, Rita--I was looking at your photos of Type Alpha VT and Butterscotch Harvest VT on another thread and see you mentioned both again here. I went over to their site to look into both and could not find either now listed.

Maybe both are being held for increase or maybe I'm just having trouble pulling them up but anyway, could you tell me the stats on both BH VT and TA VT as far as height and bloom size? Your photos 'sold' me on them as likely to play well in my garden for a possible spring purchase ( or whenever they are available again)

justmetoo- Look again in the spring. They sell out of things late in the year and then instead of just saying out of stock, they pull them from the catalog. I know they had a big sale locally there last month and sold out of lots of things after that.

Rebloom scape on WALL OF FIRE here. Just noticed it yesterday as it's only about 6 inches high at this point.

Andrea: Be sure to send out a birth announcement when it blooms. :-).

I've got nothing blooming but Stella.

Happy Returns had a rebloom scape but it got broken. Final Touch was done a few weeks ago. Indian Giver never bloomed. Strawberry Candy shows no signs of rebloom. I keep looking for scapes but not seeing any.

Most of the new daylilies I bought this year did not bloom at all. Almost all were multi fans too. :(

Many of my heathers are in full bloom, roses, caryopteris, perovskia, clematis, hardy fuchsias, hydrangeas, geranium Rozanne, cannas, phlox, dapne transatlantica 'Summer Ice' ornamental grasses too

HappyReturns for me. Several new buds.
Will have some Glads and Cannas soon.

Final Touch is among the last to bloom, then blooms until frost - November or so. It's multiplying like crazy and blooming its head off. I haven't managed to get a seed pod but I love the color (beautiful bitone pink) and habits and bud count as well as the rebloo-o-o-o-m-m-m-m.

dragonkeep: Wow, that is a late bloomer. Just went and checked it out on Dave's Garden site and now its on my list. Stats show good height,bloom size and very hardy.

Still lots of bloom on the Olallie VL bloomers. I also still have afew of the VL Hibard intros blooming and FLAMBOYANT PROMISE on rebloom on its last flowers. LAST CHANCE FOR ROMANCE is still blooming and two of my Don Herr intros are still blooming on rebloom scapes.

My last bloom on APPLE TART just dropped off. I would have had 12 weeks of blooms if it had stayed on, but maybe the storm or cool weather caused it to drop off. As it is, I got 11 weeks of blooms off of this gem.

RED VOLUNTEER is putting up a rebloom scape... certainly didn't expect that. KING OF SWING, PURPLE DE ORO, and PLATINUM PALETTE CALYPSO CORAL are also still blooming as well as the ones below. Not too bad for this area in the second week in September. Just hope the fall stays warm enough to produce blooms.

BUTTERED POPCORN is reblooming and is sending up another scape just to the lower left of the bloom.

WITCH STITCHERY... also wasn't expecting this rebloom scape. The blooms have been subjected to cool weather lately, so they aren't laying as nicely as usual, but hey, I'll take it!

SEA GOLD... really growing to love the layers of color on this one.

Added to my previous post of new plantings this spring just sending up scape(s) now is SPACECOAST SEA SHELLS.

This morning while picking seed pods and testing out my new PH tester, I got a surprise. Three more dls are sending up scapes.
INDIAN GIVER (planted last year and bloomed this season already), GEECHEE SUNSET (planted last year and bloomed this season already)WISEST OF WIZARDS (planted this spring). What I can see is that these are first bloom scapes, ie coming from the center of a fan.
Our temps here have ranged in the daytime mid to low 70's but the night temps have fallen in low 50's. I'm amazed at the amount of blooms still coming.
Do you think the alfalfa pellets are a growth hormone or is it just the overabundance of rain we've had this season?
Will this affect the plants in a negative way next season?

I'm not sure what "this" refers to....the scape? You could always just cut the scape off now. I did that with a scape of a new-to-me-this year; CORONATION DAY began putting up a scape a few weeks ago, and after it bloomed once, I cut the scape off. Karol's WALL OF FIRE has a scape, and I think I'll cut it off as well. In fact, at this point, if I see any scapes on new plants, I'm going to cut them off....I'm completely NOT interested in daylily blooms at this point! (Maybe that has something to do with the many daylily plants--the many, many, many plants--that need planting or transplanting, not to mention the ones still to come....I have enough to deal with here without bothering with mere flowers lolol)

BAMA BOUND is still blooming, as is FINAL TOUCH. I have the usual reblooms - HAPPY RETURNS and STELLA. One unusual rebloom for me was TIGERLING.

Juliany, if you get FINAL TOUCH, it seems to take a few years to get settled; at least it did for me. Glaring fiercely at it and threatening to shovel-prune it seemed to help, too!

I saw a lot of pots of FINAL TOUCH at Lowe's the other day and was tempted by buy it, but didn't. Very difficult to do since they were blooming.
