Rosy Returns in its third summer of bloom here fails to impress..low bud-count...lovely bloom..just not a lot of it. My Rose Emily [planted this spring] completely out performs it in its first year of bloom....Baby Bitsy out performs both......just a load of blooms....This is zone 5..hope this is helpfull...ALso I have a Mini Pearl that just fails to do much.. a little bloom and that's it...very unimpressed...Apricot Sparkles way out performs it here...cheers, lloyd

oh too bad. I'm sorry to hear that. Do you feed yours? I generally don't worry too much about food for DL's. but I was thinking maybe some high ph food will help next year.

Rose Emily is a nice color when its cool, but when its hot, it gets pretty light. Do you find that too? I like both colors, but the darker color is what I am going for.

Hi, Wendy. I don't feed my DL's after they're planted. The holes are filled with pure very well composted cow manure. It becomes a black rich soil I mix with a little peat moss. This gets the plants going well in my heavy clay...Yes, Rose Emily does bleach. It is planted next to Becky Lynn which can also look a bit ragged. The reason I mentioned Baby Bitsy is it seems to hold its color and blooms very heavily[still in bloom].I nicknamed it Ribbon Candy becuase that is what it reminds me of. Of course Rosy Returns has one lovely bloom out this morning....still not showing any massing of scapes....don't give up on it though...Your results may vary.....cheers, lloyd

It is pretty but too bright for me. I am looking for something more dusky coral.

I just went and took a close look at my patch of Rosy Returns again. Of the 7 or 8 clumps in that patch, one of them does have a respectable number of scapes. Its the one that is on the end and gets more sun and maybe extra fert from the nearby roses. Maybe theres hope. ANother good thing about it is the foliage is very clean. I think the cleanest of all my DLs. And another good thing is that I see new scapes coming up for later in the season. And I like the size. Kinda short and neat. Very appropriate for by the front door. Not gangly and wild like some. ah decisions...decisions..

Yes, Wedny, that is the correct plant, forgive my spelling. It sounds like your Rosy Return is really getting ready to take off. I think I'll try moving mine...sometimes it is simply the exact spot it is in....I do like the blossom, cheers, lloyd

Hi, Wendy. I just had to add an update. Tonight, Rosy Returns has three new scapes all loading up with buds.....This is just too funny....earlier in the week it looked like it was going to be finished....Myabe this is a plant that needs to settle in. I have a number of plants that will take off the first year but otheres will sit for a year or two and than take off....I'm going to let it stay where it is for another year and see if it does more next year....cheers, lloyd

I planted Rosy Returns last fall. Now, they are just blooming non-stop! Scape after scape would still come up while the other daylilies have already given up for this season. I am very happy with my Rosy Returns!

I owe Rosy Returns an apology. She has been blooming non-stop and is still sending up scapes. It just needed more time to settle in here, I guess....cheers, loyd

Yes, it is an amazing plant. A few weeks ago I moved one that was in a bit of shade to a more sunny location. While I was at it, I divided it to 3 rather small pieces. (I'm a dividing nut!) Today I was looking and two of the three plants have a few scapes coming on strong!!!

I found Rosy Returns at a local nursery, and I'm pretty interested in seeing it bloom.

This year all my rosy returns have plenty of scapes. Just takes some time sometimes. The bud count per scape is so-so (4-6) but the fact that the scapes will keep coming all season makes up for that.

For me, my Rosy Returns this year started to bloom quite late (July). There have been many blooms, but I actually now find them to be sometimes rather ugly. The color is a dull, mauve color and the form is sometimes rather unattractive. Moreover, the foliage gets brown quite easily.

I wonder if it's just me, or do other people have the same experience?

Maybe I should just remove them and plant something else there instead.

RR is junk. Poor color... poor plant performance in z4. It's all making compost here.. at present.
