Again, great to see so many of you on this forum voting. Hopefully those of you who are casting write-in votes are helping to get some of your newer favorites on the "Top 100" list for your respective regions for next year. In our region at least, any cultivar that gets at least 2-3 votes has a good chance of being listed in the top 100 for the following year. Sometimes there are 1000 or more cultivars in each region that only get 1 vote each. Any of you who are AHS members, please take a minute to vote before Sept. 1st! Maybe the percentages will be up from the tiny minority who usually votes. That is why you don't see so many new ones on the list - because so many people don't bother to vote! Several of you have made good comments and suggestions for changes you would like to see in future Pop Polls. If anyone (who is an AHS member) sincerely wants to suggest a change or make a comment about the Pop Poll to the person who can actually do something about it, the person to make the comment to is the AHS Director( Board Member) for your region. These folks are all listed on the AHS website and all have e-mail addresses. The Fall Board meeting is the last weekend in October, so if you have comments or suggestions, please send them to your regional directors before then so that the subject can be brought up at the meeting. The AHS Directors are the folks who have a vote and can make changes to existing policies and procedures!

thanks for the votes, Irawon! I am going to have to move them around a little... Popo will certainly get mention in the final list... hard to put it in a color category... definitely blue green early in the season, so I believe we'll put it in blue... but it does usually green up pretty early. I have the same problem with Cutting Edge... Teaspoon, because it is so cute when its small, has gotten a reputation as a mini - but if you just plant it and grow it for a few years like any other hosta clump, it will actually become a medium sized clump of small leaves... Zilis puts it in small... I put it in medium... we'll have to work that out later, but it clearly is a favorite for lots of folks... Candy Dish will be in the Medium category, Lakeside Looking Glass is too. Lakeside Black Satin - it's right on the margin of being large, but I believe it is typically medium in most garden situations... so we'll keep that one there...

I was just reading your profile Catman. You sound a lot like my late brother. That is a good thing. He was always in the air if not trying to figure out a better way for planning the garden or growing something new. first time for me on this forum so I wouldn't have missed you. Glad you posted. I am in the middle of western Canada in a zone 4ish. I love growing tomatoes although I don't know how good at it I am. Still practicing. I was doing my seed inventory to William Shatner's Weird Or What marathon on New Year's Eve and seem to have misplaced my 125 pkg. tomato seed baggie!!! Oh dear!! I'm sure it will show up somewhere soon so in the meantime I am going to order a few varieties I don't have and have been wanting to try. there is a seed house here that specializes in northern hardy vegie seeds and has a few varieties of tomatoes I want to try. Just curious what your favorite varieties are where you live? When I find my stash, I will sure trade if you are still interested. :) Ginny
