Spacing, hmmmm, to some extent a matter of individual taste. Do you like them clumped together or prefer the 'specimen' look? It may be helpful to look up the expected mature size of them to help you decide as well.

Thank, hh. I've been searching for lists with sizes the past few weeks. Some have pretty much the same dimensions on all sites, others are all over the place. I'm thinking that I may pot them in small pots, then sink the pots in whichever containers that I use (unless someone says that is a bad idea) That way "corrections" will be less disruptive (I hope).

Thank you thank you, yardmom. I'm looking for any pictures of groupings of minis. Mine are all in the ground, but need to be rearranged for height reasons. Some are clearly taller and obviously more vigorous too. I ordered a bunch of new ones this year. I want to try some of the smaller ones in the few dishes and rectangular planters that I have also. Right now I have time to arrange & rearrange in my head or on paper. I'd like to be able to hit the ground running when spring comes. I work part time, and my garden time is much more limited than it used to be.

Yardmom, I was in a rush out the door when I saw your post, and forgot to comment on your darling mini/Minnie Mouse hosta arrangement...so cute!!!!

HH...are there any hostas that You DON'T have? Large and small, the list seems endless. You even have troughs, dishes and strawberry pots filled with lovely specimens, eh?. (sorry, couldn't resist) What else are you holding back?

I think I'm seeing moss, stones, bark? and what is to the left of the bark(?) at the top of the dish?

My computer died a year ago (getting a replacement soon) DH brings his work laptop home at night, so I'll have to wait for an answer(hopefully).

I do plant mini hostas in troughs but they quickly out grow the 'setting' I create. They look good for one season, maybe two. Notice they were all just an eye or a few eyes in the small pots. Big troughs are easier to work with.
