Can I rant?

Don't use Miracle Grow Moisture Control Potting soil on your hosta.

I repotted a bunch of hosta yesterday. My oldest hosta, an unknown blue variety was one I knew needed it desperately. I had moved it up to a larger pot last year as it had well over 100 eyes. Unfortunately, I used Miracle Grow Moisture Control Potting soil.

Steve mentored me on potting soil in the spring, so I went back and replaced the soil in several I worked on early last year. This pot was so large, I put off doing it, thinking it's so big and has survived everything, so, it will be ok...Wrong.

When I knocked out the soil ball, it had turned to heavy clay. It was just heavy black mud. It now has only about 40 eyes. There aren't many roots. I'm sure it will be fine, although a lot smaller than before the Miracle Grow.
