No planting for me. I got the last of my daylilies planted yesterday. Today was spent putting things away. Hurricane Bill will be giving me a smack about 1:00pm tomorrow. At least it has been downgraded to a Category 1.

I am just inside on a fuel myself up with Lemonaid break. I had thirteen holes dug on the slope for the daylilies yesterday and I have twelve of them filled. Hurray. I am going to leave the last for tomorrow as I want to get some things planted from my tub of soaking daylilies that came here Wednesday.

you will post a pic when you are done with planting on the slope,? really interested in how it will come out, get some close ups, please, No worry about run off from the rain? You deserve a break that's for sure, that had to be tough planting on a slope like that.

I have just dragged myself back inside for the day. I am absolutely shot. Can barely drag myself around. At least it has been a very productive few days and my projects are moving forward.

Cindy, I will deffinatly take pictures and post them. I really think (I hope for sure) that those daylilies will hold that slope. I tried to space them really cose for the hill holding effect but still I had to leave some room because I don't want them to grow together. After I finish I plan to put something between the rows also to break up any idea of the rain to wash too much. Either that green edging you get at Home Depot or a row of bricks. Or maybe a combo of the two. I will set the bricks down some and then mulch on top of the entire thing. Will take pictures as I go along. I have thought this entire thing out before I starting anything.

Right now the hill will not wash out because the grass is still there between the daylily clumps. I did not remove the grass, simply dug holes thru the grass and planted. I will do the bricks, then cut newspaper, lay on top of grass, then put straw on top of that so that the area between the clumps is heavily mulched. Also wanted to get the roots a chance to start growing. Straw works pretty well on slopes, I use it on sections of Azealea Hill and its pretty darn streep. Almost but not quite as bad as the area I am planting on now. No were near as gentile a slope as on the section in the front yard were I have the zinnias and the daylilies.

This is what one has to resort to when one has run out of room.

As many of you know by now, my property is all multilevel. While that means its initially more challangeing to work with the end results usually are more visually interesting than just a flat garden that I could create.

I am really, really pleased with the look of the daylilies on the slope. They will all be very easy to see in bloom and the rest of the time I will just have green folliage. I was looking at it yesterday and thinking that some daffs planted between the daylilies would really do the trick. It just so happens that I bought a bunch of daffs at Home Depot last week.
