Sorry to hear about your flooding situation. Personally I(and everyone else) can't wait till Fay goes away for good!! I hope your water has receded and you are out of the woods soon. Good Luck!!

I hope your flooding is freshwater from all the rain. If I remember right about the East Coast, isn't the St Lucie saltwater?

We got Fay first over here on the West Coast, but my yard right in the Ten Thousand Islands bays was totally under saltwater. Take a look:

I didn't get to shoot any pictures of the actual flooding, since it was raining and blowing so hard (70 mhp) and it was kinda dark and dreary. I know that would've been more interesting that seeing a bunch of dead plants!

I can't bear to take pics of all my hybrid hibiscus corpses, though. I had to pull out my 'maters, sweet taters and squash vines, along with begonias and dahlias and stuff like that. I think all the trees will come back, even though they are now nudies; the pink tab is a champ, though, and so far is still full of foliage.

Anyways, keep us posted on how well your flooded garden fares in the next week as it dries out.

Hey Brandan! I saw the pics on your blog and I'm hoping that you're dry by now. Here's the scene in Lakewood Park a couple of days ago, but we're dry now, thank goodness.

Oh Ms susieqsie, that is so sad to see. That saltwater is not your gardens friend. I was lucky, the St Lucie River is brackish. It is just like your back country areas. As I was watching the storm approach I saw Chokoloskee taking the storm on the news and thought of you, my favorite Chokoloskee resident. I would love to see that 40". If you have it on the computer I have a visitors photo album on my blog were you could upload it to. With Sept. coming up I should have a trip down to you. I don't know if it will be the end of Sept or beginning of Oct. But I am coming and maybe just maybe I can try to match that 40. 35 is the largest I have caught down there. But your Snook are just fat wide bodied monsters. I hope you do not loose all of those plant and that some recover! It looks like you have spent some time creating that beauty.

lissa, nice shots on your album. My neighbors dried out, but it cost me $50 for a pump and 150ft of hose to start my dry out. Is that Seminole? Did any of those canals overflow? I did not get a chance to make it up there to see everything.

Brandan, That's actually Green Dolphin between Lakeland and North. The canal on East Seminole overflowed on the first day onto the road and the water got so deep that it met the water from the lake/pond in some folks yards.

I'm glad you finally got the water out of your yard and I hope your lime makes it!

Susie, do your rhizomous plants usually bounce back?

Here in Miami where I live the rain was hard and it rained every darn day! My 4-5 foot coleus got knocked over and my toads didn't know where to go as the ground couldnt soak up all the rain water.
I had plant trades coming in left and right and I had no idea where to put them in the soggy ground. All of the blooms that I had fell off or were beat off by the rain. My moon vine thats on the fence has dropped a lot of leaves too and a lot of leaves have turned yellow from all of the water. My periwinkles or vinca shriveled up and I only have one left.
I was lucky that we didn't stay under water too long here and it did not get as high near my house like in the photos I have seen on this forum. Good luck to those that have to redo their gardens. I am in the middle of doing mine too. Let me know if you are interested in any trades and I will see what I can do to help you out.
