Wow Kay. I don't have 1 bloom. I do have scapes coming on . I love Ledgewoods Jumpstart. Sc Eye For Passion looks great with the Zinnias. Ellie

How do the leaves look? Is the plant doing well otherwise? Are plants in-ground or in pots? If in pots, shade the roots by blocking the bottom of the pot with a piece of board, then mulch the inside of pot. If in-ground, mulch.

Hey everybody! Thanks so much for the kind words and all the help I have gotten to be able to accomplish such a feat! As you know, these plants especially, can be one of the HARDEST plants to keep happy all winter and I am just grateful they even stayed alive.. Here is another one took this morning that is popping all over in blooms. Toni: Thank you. I have had that one since last spring. I trimmed it down to almost nothing last summer in the hopes of being able to have room to keep it on my window sill, and never thought I would even see the light of day with buds. Just goes to show you you can never be afraid to give short haircuts to many plants. I think the color looks darker than it really is with a false. I took another pic this morning with sunlight reaching it. It is posted second:-) Josh: Thanks. Your next plant? :-) Al: Thanks a lot. You certainly had a hand in this!:-0) Jodi: Thanks! Now we need to get you started on some plants a bit easier, like let's say..hum? Dana, I am not sure if my treating it as a type III has modified its size but Niobe has never gotten taller than about three feet for me. It is also growing under the same crepe myrtle tree that Sizaia Ptitsa is growing under so again don't know if that has affected its eventual height or not. Be sure to show the seedlings that you grew from the seeds I sent--crispa and glaucophylla. I like to see how the babies have turned out! Helen, glad you liked the color of Niobe. It is quite intense when it first comes out and before the sun gets to it. The work hours they are a changing this weekened. I am going to be working 3 12 hour days on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, get paid for 40 hours, and have 4 days off each week. The 3 12 hour days will take some getting used to and I am sure Tuesday will be recuperation day! Almond, my Ramona actually had some blooms on it wilt early on so don't despair. You never know how things will turn out long term. The Betty Corning blooms are wonderful and have a very subtle fragrance. I have the bouquet on the table in the living room and I catch the fragrance periodically when I watch TV.

Thanks everybody. Yeah I was kinda shocked to see that preying mantis. I used to get lots of them down the hill in the mobile home park we lived in. We're quite a bit higher elevation here, and they're pretty rare here. The only time I ever saw any here in the past, was when I bought an egg sac and released them. She disappeared the next day. No idea where she could be.

What a great group, especially this late in the season. That photo of SC Eye for Passion is a beauty. You couldn't have matched the zinnia color better.

Ellie wrote the same message I had in mind. So ditto what she said about Ledgewoods Jumpstart and SC Eye for Passion and the zinnias. That's a nice group for so late in the season. I still have seven blooming today, and two with scapes on the way.

Thank you all for looking and commenting. Today, I found rebloom scape number 83...just 20 less than last year. Walter Kennedy has decided to rebloom. It has to be all the rain.

Well, you will be having blooms soon then, Ellie. About the seedling, Nat4b and Jean. There is nothing wrong with the sedling, it is a good bloomer and rebloomer, but I don't love it and I am downsizing...or at least I am not upsizing any more.

The ones blooming are winding down though...finally! This is almost the last bloom on Jumpstart; and they have all been perfect. Even the slugs didn't bother it. Total accident on the colors of the zinnia and Eye For Passion. The zinnias are volunteers. I think at least a few of them are bird assisted plantings.

Mantis, that is a nice compliment form an accomplished photographer, thank you.

Debra, I am not getting up every day at 6:00 AM anymore. I may miss a few shots, but it is time to be doing other yardwork, not picture taking. I showed my husband the photo of that seedling of yours I have been going on about and he agreed it was very pretty. If I had seedlings like that, I wouldn't worry about rebloom.
