I'm sorry I didn't realize there were two events for them so close together. This is from the Sun Sentinel. Sadly I can't go. (pout was hoping to get a miracle fruit)

they were handing out fliers at the mounts event last weekend
I made sure to ask 3 diff ppl that are on the council cause for a while they were saying it was gonna be on the 21st
but they said they are sticking w/ the 7th, so this saturday for sure.

I can give you a Var. Pink Pineapple, and Lychee Tree Nursery in Stuart has nice big Strawberry trees. I can pick up one for you if needed-I work nearby.

I just picked a bunch of ripe fruits off mine this morning, as I have been doing for a month now. Great trees!

What does a strawberry tree fruit taste like? Strawberries? Or does the fruit just perhaps look like a strawberry?

Tony, my wife and I both think they taste coconutty, and like them quite a bit. Easy tree to grow, and grows extremely fast.

Does anyone have any Strawberry Fruit they could bring to sample? I love Coconut.

I think they taste like a strawberry/fig combination. They explode in your mouth when you eat them-full of teensy, crunchy seeds. The flowers look like strawberry flowers. The fruits look like cranberries.

I'll bring plenty of fruits to Treefrog's Playdate.

See I tried some strawberry tree fruit from my neighbor's tree and to me it tasted like strawberry bubble gum
it was great.
I loved the squishy texture with all the seeds.
I tried saving one to plant the seeds but it got eaten :)

I would like to grow some seeds as well, but before you try, you should know this important tidbit.

"Propagation: By seed. Needs three months cold treatment, then requires an additional three months to germinate."

I think they taste like very sweet fig. I get no "berry" flavor from them at all. Any way you describe it, they are yummy.

Auryn, nope, I work every Saturday, so I miss all the Saturday sales:(.

The Pineapple is free, I think the Strawberry Trees are $35. They are usually 5+' tall. I'll call to be sure they still have some left.

Anyone else down south need one?

Lisa, Can they be container grown?
Do they need full sun or partial shade?

Veronika, have you seen the one at Mounts?? It is HUGE!!! Until I saw it, I thought they were a small tree. The one I saw planted in the ground at Lychee Tree Nursery was only about 10' tall/wide.

So, you could grow it in a pot until it got too big(G). They are very fast growers!

I have seen the one in Mounts, and it is a big tree. I am reading (thanks to Tony and his researching capabilities) that they are good for bonsai, so I was just wondering about any experience with them in pot.
I should hold off, since I want to get an ackee tree and sapodilla. I need to go slow on my hubby. LOL

my mom got 2 figs
and I think thats it

now I just gotta figure out the best place to plant the strawberry tree and mulberry
