Palm Beach Rare Fruit Council Sale

The Palm Beach Rare Fruit Council sale will be at Mounts Botanical Gardenns Saturday June 30 10-3.

Is anyone planning to go? I'd suggest going early and then tour the gardens.

Dang it! Why do they always have the Fruit Tree sales on Saturday??

I sure wish I could go:(.

For those of you who do go, be sure to check out the GORGEOUS Jamaica Cherry (Muntingia) at the southeast area of the gardens. It is one of the prettiest trees I've ever seen. It should be dripping with ripe fruits now.

I was at the sale this morning as well and scored a nice thick trunked Brewster Lychee at a bargain. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow. I also noticed some unusual Thai and Vietnamese varietes of Mango that I was tempted to get but due to my cars limited backseat space for the ride home could not get. They were a few huge Jaboticaba for $30.00 each that if I had a pickup truck would have went with me. I really enjoy The Palm Beach Rare Fruit Council sales, they always have nice trees and if you look hard there are some at real bargain prices.

Our fruit club - Manatee Rare Fruit Council, will be hosting their huge fruit tree sale May 22nd from 10am-4pm. It is just south of Tampa/ north of Sarasota. There are 25 vendors. The next real rare fruit tree sale will be the first weekend in November.
This one looks more like a tasting party.
But I wouldn't be surprised if some folks bring some plants to sell.

I am still planning to go though.

Email me privately if you want to hitch a ride ( I got a van) I think they will be selling plants, but if not, I got some other place to go to. LOL

I just checked the newsletter. The next palm beach rare fruit council fruit tree sale is on July 7th 9am-2pm.

Sorry I assumed it was the sale. Going back outside now to dig up the plants in the butterfly garden and I've got to move the raised veggie beds. The bobcat is coming Saturday. Can ya tell I've got too many things on my plate at the moment? lol
D'Ann thanks for the offer but I'm gonna pass, I surely can't be in two places at once. LOL

How do you get hold of the newsletter?
I cruised through the whole site and couldn't find it there.
Do you get it mailed to you as a member?

Treefrog might be right about it being a tasting day. I am still going to go because it is a wonderful opportunity to see what I like / don`t like.

But i just found a yellow flyer announcing a tropical fruit tree and plant sale July the 21 st 9 A.M. - 2 P.M.

It is being held at the south Florida fairgrounds agriplex arena.

And of course........it is on a Saturday so Lisa can`t go .

treefrog, I get the newsletter cause I am a member. I really wish they had a working website like the Broward one does. If they had a website even non members would be able to know what was going on when. The most recent newsletter I got last week said the 7th of July but since jupiterplants also has a flyer saying for the 21st i'm not sure which is the right date. I will try and find out.

I think the 21st was the date they traditionally have it
but something happened and this year's is on the 7th.
The yellow flyer I have from this year's fair says the 7th.
My neighbor that I talked to yesterday who sells plants at said that its always at the end of the month, except for this year.
And its definitely at the agriplex.

If you'r in doubt, check the fairgrounds website. Its up there.

In any case, the one on the 30th sounds good.
Fresh fruit to sample and purchase, lectures, music.
There are still a lot of different fruits I've never had.
The few I've tried from supermarkets for big $$ have all been disappointing.
So I'll try to make it.
