I've always just direct sown radishes, because they germinate quickly. I'd plant them in your well prepared garden. Hope this helps.

Sorry to have to tell you this, M, but I don't think rat tails will do very well at this time of year. If you have any seeds left, try sowing them when it cools off in October. They're very easy then.

It's possible that rat tails will grow for you in the summer, but in my experience they don't produce the edible seedpods when the temps are high. They are also more susceptible to disease in summer.

I don't know if rat tails transplant well. Like Msmarion, I've always direct sow.

In cool weather this radish produces edible seed pods rather than roots. The pods have a crunchy texture something like a snap pea, but with a radishy taste. The cooler the weather, the better the taste and texture. It can grow quite large, three or even four feet tall and wide, and it produces sprays of pretty pinkish white flowers--followed by Lots of pods.

That figures. I only put a few in the pot so I have plenty left for the fall. My daughter went through all the seeds I had and put a few in each pot to see what would happen just for fun. So far, only the radishes and four o'clocks have germinated. I'll see what happens with these guys and go with direct sow in fall. thanks.

Radishes are known to germinate quickly. That's why they tell you to plant some at the beginning of every row so you'll know where the rows are.
