RED HILL had a fabulous run this year. Always one of my favorites :-))

My potted Nasturtiums have been doing really great this year.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST has been blooming strongly this year. Great tall late bloomer.

Love the pot of Nasturtiums and the lilies are nice to have this time of year.

All of it is very pretty. Love the nasturtiums too.
You know, I go through this little dialogue with myself every time you post. "You have no room!" "You "have too many now!" "You won't stay off the auction." Don't look too long." "Don't look at Rita's blooms." By the way, I bought Purple Maze from Maryott this year. It's in the butterfly garden along with a few more.

Yes, I had seen this complaint of Evertender being weak and floppy before. Not sure if that means it is being destroyed by the wind, or if it is just a aesthetic complaint? I am growing the okra mostly to use in my gumbos which I make frequently. The purple varieties look pretty so I am interested in them so long as they taste the same and produce as well. The seeds I have ordered so far are Bowling Red, Burgundy, Hill Country Heirloom Red, and Emerald. I am in Augusta, GA. I am planting these in partial shade so I hope they will tolerate that. I am thinking that if I try multiple varieties then there is more chance that some will produce well. Has anyone grown both Hill Country and Alabama Red? I am new to heirloom vegetables. Are some of the varieties sometimes identical?

i have a large amount of rose seeds of different kinds, and i have a small trade of lavender as well. i would like some cinnamon basil for one of these, or perhaps if you want both i would choose something else. not okra! ah ok, i know its good stuff, good for you, easy grower, but i dont fancy it myself ! actually if you wanted, i have some okra, a different kind around somewhere i could throw in =) Here is a link that might be useful: my trade list

Yes I agree. I found some like that this summer too, with the pretty pink hues. Hope it blooms in the spring to see if the flowers are white. Have you seen this guy bloom? The plants at the store had reversions too, plain green, much more vigorous shoots from the same stems. I put it in the ground thinking it would grow faster, but it's super slow.

Stanley have a listing for it, but no details of origin, etc. Because P. flexilis has a very wide range, details of the origin would help a lot in determining growing conditions, etc., if it could be found out. Putting flexilis red hill in google also throws up a link to a paper about Pinus flexilis glacial refugia in Molecular Ecology 9: 91-97 (2000); one of those annoying papers where one can't see it online, but the implication is that there is a place called Red Hill somewhere, with Pinus flexilis occurring there. Kay- You are making me laugh. You and I are both hopeless, let's face it. Can't quit buying no matter what we say to ourselves.

I am good for now, I think I can stay off the LA for awhile. The really bad part comes in winter. But much worse for me is when all those spring intros will be announced late in the fall. I just have to rush to buy some. Don't know what I will do this year. Totally out of room. I know you don't want to dig up and make more gardenbeds but at least you have the room that you CAN if needed. Not an option here.

I am actually digging up daylilies today. Moved about 6 into new spots for 'last chance'. So those have to shape up or die. Their choice. About 15 others totally outta here. Not that it gives me more room, as I am just trying to organise some in the front yard.

I think yours will look better than mine. The Eyezone did impove on mine with later blooms though but down south it should be fabulous. I am going to move mine from the front planterbox were it is now into the driveway side slope. That way, its not in a prime spot and I can give it more time to shape up before I decide if it stays or goes.

You are so right. I have a number of new ones coming, and there are others I want, but I have no room.

And I have just about finished digging the new rose area. It will be across from the butterfly garden. If it doesn't rain in the next little while, I will go out and finish the little bit of grass I still have to remove. (I spent about 3 hours on that this morning. )

I liked your purple maze well enough that it settled me to buy it. I have Pirate King (It's last chance to shape up), Purple Maze, and and Cosmic Traveler planted in the butterfly garden.

I have a Westbourne, and I'm bidding on another one...both thanks to your pictures. I have several other auction wins, Paul Owens order, and a couple others here and there. (If you don't count up, it doesn't seem like as many:)

Best not to count. I never count them, that way I don't feel so bad.

I just don't understand how in the same gardenarea side by side some can do so well and others are a disaster. Now not talking about blooms, just plants. The decining ones all dug out and tossed. I have too many daylilies to worry myself over anything that just doesn't want to do well no matter what the reason.

I have a few more to dig. I give them to those eager to get them at work. These days if one doesn't do well, I give it two years. Three only if it is one that I see does really well for others and I want it. That's it. I may move a select few, but usually not.

Yes, if I count, I have to figure out where they are going. The ones from Ridnaught are no problem they are "beefing" up one and replacing one that didn't do well. (ie it died) The others have to be planted.

I have a couple of yellow ones and a couple of red ones since I needed those colors. But we won't go there. I have a place for Coronation Day, one for Possession of Obsession, and One for another one in front. I'm gradually placing them, but I don't seem to stop buying them. Several of them are going in the new rose garden. Ah Well.

Looks like you still have a lot of buds left on the daylilies yet, to open.I love that pot of nasturtiums.Thats really pretty.

I really like Red Hill Best, it is bright and cheery! Those Nasturtiums look FABULOUS!
